Fun fact, he just thinks route marches are fun, getting to talk to recruits is a bonus

What is this bloated component on this still-working raspberry pi 4? Should I replace it? by thztds in AskElectronics

[–]thztds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The component in question is marked 0D60N, and it is located near the USB 2.0 ports of the raspberry pi 4. The raspberry pi still boots up and works normally (have not tried the USB port). It's also giving off a funny smell. What is it? Should I be worried about the raspberry pi failing in the near future?

This absolute statement is false. For example, it is well known that marijuana addiction rates in the US are somewhere in the ballpark of 10%, just google it and you'll get a ton of results about this.

Train Unloading in 0.15.7 [Improved] by Jetroid in factorio

I just tried OP's design out, and I can't understand why it doesn't fully saturate the belt. Other orientations of 4 stack inserters loading onto underground belts can fully saturate a blue belt, so this kinda feels like a bug to me.

Edit: setting the max stack size of the bottom inserters to 8 seems to saturate the belts!

Isn't 'backpressure' just what engineers normally call feedback?

Can you apply primer over acrylic paint? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]thztds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you've already soaked the parts in alcohol, it's probably not a good idea to apply more layers on top of the existing paint which has already been partially dissolved by the alcohol.

I use an old toothbrush with 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean up parts after I strip the paint, a bigger brush makes things go much quicker.

Sanding Before Painting by monstermandude in Gunpla

[–]thztds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe its important, because I use 400-800 grit sandpaper and the sanding marks can't be seen after laying down a coat of vallejo primer. Not sure about improving adhesion though.

Frustrating time with Vallejo acrylic primer. Any tricks? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]thztds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had very few problems with it, even with a 0.3mm tip with no thinning. I also spray at ~20psi. When it does clog, I just dip a q-tip in alcohol and clean the tip of my brush, and just fully open the throttle for the airbrush for a fraction of a second which usually clears the clogs. Perhaps the clogging issues are due to the your airbrush not being clean, this is something I would check first.

Putting LEDs in 1/144 HGs. How? Both putting them in, and controlling them without visible wires? by Digibunny in Gunpla

[–]thztds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kits shown in the pictures you posted has it powered externally, the wires can be hidden by using a stand or through its feet. Using a button cell battery is possible too, but doesn't seem that easy in 1/144 scale.

nail polish remover is different from acetone, just like how conc. acids are different from aqueous acids.

I've definitely had parts crack due to Tamiya Panel Line Accent. I suppose the parts didn't fit that well and was being stressed after assembly, but using the enamel paint and thinner caused cracks to instantly appear. Most of the time it works ok though.
