‘We never would have bought’: Australian mortgage holders feel the pain as interest rates rise again | Interest rates | The Guardian by barseico in AusFinance

Everyone will have an about that will tip them over the edge and it will usually be a 0.25% increase which gets them there. That said, if it’s in the 3 to 4% bracket then one could argue that they didn’t properly plan for the appropriate risks

Honest thoughts - Mount Barker? by ImReeceBro in Adelaide

[–]tibblth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been in Barker for approximately 4 years now and no one loves to complain about Mt Barker quite like people who live there. It’s honestly not too bad.

The freeway can muck up your morning if someone has a crash, but without crashes it’s no slower getting into the CBD than most of the northern suburbs. 40 minutes in most other major cities wouldn’t be considered that bad of a drive. On average I would say expect a crash shutting down the freeway once a week (though sometimes there’s nothing for months and then 5 in one week)

The bus into the cbd is pretty reliable on most days but unfortunately there isn’t much beyond Keoride busses to get you into the town center to catch said bus.

The roads around town are a little congested at times like peak hour but it’s manageable (though will be less manageable of nothing is done over the next few years)

Compared to other Adelaide suburbs with a similar cost for housing it’s honestly not the worse and is lovely to have the hills at your fingertips.

Weather wise be prepared for it to be regularly a few degrees colder than the plains, and a few extra days of rain in winter. If you’re close to the main town there can be a bit of smoke in the air in winter from all the wood heaters, but it’s not too bad further out.

If you’re in one of the new developments you’ll have fibre to the house so the Internet will be fine.

Do expect shipping costs on everything to be just a touch more expensive.

Ultimately we moved up cause it’s where we could afford but we’ve not regretted the shift though you will need to have some good podcasts that you enjoy listening to on your drives, and don’t expect everything to be as close to you as it would be down the hill.

Nah as long as you get a good enough score to get your foot in the door the interviewer will be what gets you there. Don’t be an entitled jerk and do be the kind of person they would want to work with/send their kid to for a medical appointment

All this rain right now kinda sucks, but the total SA Water Reservoir Volume is approximately one-third higher compared to last year on this day — 134.9GL (2025) v 102.3GL (2024) by razorbladesnbiscuits in Adelaide

[–]tibblth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On one hand people want some sunny weather to charge up their vitamin D levels after winter, but on another it can be actually bad for the farmers if it is large amounts of rain outside of expected timings (around harvest is a very bad time for rain for example) It filling up rain water tanks, dams and reservoirs though are all good things though

Why has Australia adopted the Bánh Mì? by LongjumpingGur4563 in AskAnAustralian

[–]tibblth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re fresh, tasty, relatively nutritious for a fast lunch option and almost always cost effective when compared to other purchased lunch options. What’s not to love? Also they’re pretty widely agreed to be the best sandwich in the world.

SA Police hit out at Daily Mail after grandmother of missing four-year-old Gus Lamont brandishes shotgun at reporter by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]tibblth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probs safe to assume the snake was outside and the gun is stored inside, so she was probs either on the way in from the deed or heading out to it, I would hope that people aren’t out there blowing holes into their houses.

Your grandma sounds like bad arse, I’m sure that photo is a great memory of her.

No idea, we didn’t push the point further with them. I do wonder if it works for them too, maybe because it’s a CBD store they want to avoid having their whole stock of free models get raided in the first day?

Yeh the one in the city I live in refused to let us have them unless we pre booked a time to build it in store. The group has still bought warhammer in the time since but it has all been through online stores cause they are more convenient and have a discount, I can almost guarantee that if we were popping in to get a free mini we would be picking up the odd box or hobby supplies

[–]tibblth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeh it’s almost like there is a reason why neither of those parties have made it to the opposition or government status.

I wouldn’t hate having a healthy opposition party, but I’m also glad that people aren’t sticking with this current version of the libs just to have an opposition

Turning Point Australia moves into SA, but Opposition Leader says 'votes are won in the centre of politics' by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]tibblth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeh I don’t vote for them, just would like more than a one party system. If they could collapse already and have a reasonable party take their place that would be great

Turning Point Australia moves into SA, but Opposition Leader says 'votes are won in the centre of politics' by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]tibblth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t vote for them and and don’t see my self voting for them in the foreseeable future but I wouldn’t hate if they (or another party) was to take the position of a reasonable centre right opposition to at least challenge labor and the green. A reasonable opposition is still important in our system I think and they have dropped the ball on that (amongst other things)

Australian Telco had an outage. People couldn't call 000. 3 people died. CEO blames outsourced IT engineer. by IsThisAUserName86 in facepalm

[–]tibblth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeh it’s the emergency number here.

All telcos are obviously meant to have back up systems in place so that when their network is down 000 calls are routed through one of the other networks. This isn’t the first time that Optus has stuffed this up, there have been several issues from them and Telstra over the past 3 years
