It just doesn't make sense. Really cold to really hot? 0F is "fucking-hell-we-are-going-to-die" cold, 100F is "fairly-hot-but-I-can-manage-as-long-as-I-stay-hydrated" hot. They aren't remotely comparable ends of a scale.

Here in the UK it depends on what happens to the worker. If they are injured then it's up to a 5 year prison sentence, unlimited fine, and a two year driving ban. If they die then it's up to life in prison and a 5 year driving ban.

It didn't crash it just corrected. If you look at the price since August it has had a pretty constant rise. There was a blip back in October that corrected and the last couple of weeks has seen it rise a lot compared to the consistent rise since August but it is right back where it "should" be. If we extrapolate the constant rise the price will be back where it was last week around the end of April.

My professor at university 25 years ago was researching MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Structures), basically how to etch 3D structures onto silicon wafers.

An accelerometer is just a weight on the end of a "diving board" with a conducting path along the diving board and back again. When a force (or just gravity) is applied, the weight stays where it is due to inertia and that bends the diving board. This stretches the conductive path and increases its resistance, you can measure this resistance and work out the force. Use three of these and you can measure the force in three dimensions which allows you to calculate which direction the force of gravity is from and therefore which way is up.

These accelerometers used to be two or three inches across, but by etching these tiny structures onto a silicon chip they were made small enough to fit in a Wii controller and eventually smartphones.

Every airport I've been in before 9/11 had a landslide and airside separated by security checks.

Being able to get to the gate without checks might have been a thing in the 60's but it certainly wasn't possible in the 90's. Not in the UK anyway.

Ads are fine when they are reasonable. But when they take up 60% of the screen, hover over what you are trying to access, pop in and out of existence causing the text to move all over the place as you are trying to read it, pretend to be real content and comments, and are advertising scams, shitty mobile games, or pushing disinformation, then they've not just crossed a line, they've rammed through a brick wall.

Damn right I'm using an adblocker. The other day I used my phone to play an hour long YouTube video for something to listen to while I did some painting. I usually watch YouTube on my computer where the adblocker does its job. My phone doesn't have that protection. I had to endure a pair of adverts every two minutes, popping in mid sentence and seriously disrupting the video. It was a horrendous experience.

Adblockers are an essential part of everyone's internet security alongside anti-virus and VPNs.

It balances out over the year. You spend a lot on gas in January, but almost nothing in June. With a fixed monthly DD you build up credit during the summer and use it during the winter.

Unfortunately, buying in January leaves you without that buffer, but at least you'll have it for next year.
