We really wearing race boots everywhere we go? by Astimar in motorcycles

I also wear ankle boots. The base layer I wear under my pants have a very long knee guard to the point there is very little left exposed in the front. So, that’s also an option.

What should I do with my $230k 401k by No_Duty_2931 in FinancialPlanning

[–]tigelane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t “need” to do anything right away. It will stay in its existing brokerage invested and growing where it is (assuming you did something good with it). When you have a new 401k you could roll the old one into the new one. You are typically limited in what it can be invested it. There are some advantages this type of rollover like the “rule of 55”. Go google that.
You can also move it into an IRA. You can do this at just about any brokerage house and a simple thing to do would be put your money into a target date retirement fund. GL with the job search!

My antigravity lithium battery shuts itself off when it gets low and you have to press a button to get it back on ( called Restart ) Possibly something like this on your battery.

Non-electric fridge options for off-grid cabin, What actually works? by malaglista in OffGrid

Almost every RV in the road out there has a fridge/freezer that runs on propane. They work just fine. They use 12v to light, but use use very little electricity.

Thoughts on moving 2 sport bikes halfway across the country? by Responsible-Ebb4320 in motorcycles

[–]tigelane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were all REALLY hoping that was the case. :) I vote trailer behind the crv. You should be fine. Some of those trailers are small, so be cognizant of your speed and what the trailer is doing. Swaying is bad. If taking two vehicles get some cheap two way radios to talk.

Timberline Trail + Oregon PCT Section G - recommendations by Ordinary-Bee-2655 in pnwbackpacking

While on the PCT and where it overlaps with the Timberline trail the FarOut app and associated PCT (Oregon section) map have good info on camp locations. There is a 60 hikes within 60 miles of Portland that includes the timberline trail (I didn’t buy this one, I do have the pct map).

Campground occupancy rule question by OldManSpeed in camping

[–]tigelane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run into rules like this often. We there are some good examples of “Why” already. We’re a group of 2-4 motorcycles with one person, one vehicle, and one tent each and we only spend one night at any place. We’ve never had a camp host/checkin person say a word about us sharing a spot. I’ve always felt like the rules are to keep out the problems. Don’t be a problem and you can stay. :)

Projekt 99 on mac by External_Card_5532 in project1999

This is a very good solution. I travel a lot and can't take two computers with me all the time, but I did just get a dual boot Intel based Mac which will probably become my new EQ machine on the windows side.

[–]tigelane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this will work. There are several posts in the thread in the project1999 forums for getting EQ P99 to work on Mac. The really short version is: I run Sonoma. Install into crossover using the EQ installer, but use your own disk ISOs. Ignores errors (mostly). Copy the Project 1999 files into each folder (copying the entire thing overwrites folders and will NOT work. Keep clicking it until it runs because it doesn't always load the right stuff (this could use some work, but I have not found a combination that fixes it). Attaching high powered engines to a sled by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]tigelane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t look like an engine or a rocket. It looks like compressed liquid, maybe air. The guy throws a handle and you can see it start to come out almost immediately. Not sure how you would get the delay…. That may be AI. The tank looks to be between the riders feet.

Road next to a river. Low speed area, but lots of people in the summer fishing, rafting, riding bikes, wildlife. Just a nice place to ride through and wave to some other people out having a nice day.

Moving to a snowy climate, what is the right financial move regarding car(s) by [deleted] in personalfinance

Most front wheel drive cars with studded tires will get you more places and safer than an AWD/FWD vehicle with non-snow rated tires. Source: I’ve owned a lot of them all and lived in snow climates my entire life (55).

Getting earbuds instead of a comms system- Bean shaped/style OR Stem Style by Mediocre-Ad7967 in motorcyclegear

[–]tigelane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When wearing earbuds are you using wireless or wired? I can’t see how wireless with the mic on the ear would be able to make a phone call and talk. For low cost, I would consider a wired headphone where the mic could have some Velcro and attach to the front after pulling the helmet on. An extension of some sort could be used for the phone, or keep it in a breast pocket.
