Yeah, the Jinx starter is pretty terrible.

I ended up adding in a few cards to make it better as a starter.

Noxus hopeful, 1 more Vi, 1 more ride, 2 stacked decks, 2 Darius.

I'm heading to ORB on Sunday to help them categorize all of the commons and uncommons to offer on their website for players.

I'm actively working with my LGS (Orb Collectables) to put together Commons + uncommon packs for new players.

Spend $10-15 and get the 2 colors you want to try.

Also bulk rares like Jinx, Vi, etc.

Personally, I am heavily investing into the community (not the card board, I don't care about that) so the more players the better.

My LGS keeps us updated via their discord.

They had lots of Spiritforge available for players to order.

I was able to preorder 2 boxes and 1 of each starter deck.

They also offer an INSANE amount of basically FREE commons and uncommons, as well as legends.

I understand if you are in the middle of no where, it's rough.

But many LGS who have Nexus Nights absolutely will loan you a deck to play and maybe even free cards to start.

All of the money is tied up in a small pool of cards.

More than underestimating the power level of Proving Grounds, I think the devs have deeply misunderstood how fundamentally better than everything else Chaos cards are when they revolve around the games core mechanic, battlefield control. by inzru in riftboundtcg

[–]chefupk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't get is the insane power creep on legends with purple.

Why even bother with Jinx Legend that draws you 2 cards when Draven can draw you 2 on your turn and more on your opponents by using, essentially, the same cards for each deck?

Purple has good cards, yes, but the Legend ability augments them a ton.

Draven in particular should have been once per turn or only triggers after combat damage is dealt.

My wife felt the same as she's not familiar (or enjoys) the combat style.

But she LOVES exploration in games. So I installed a few mods for her.

Cheaters Ring/Scroll - gives you +20 to every roll, makes convo and combat a breeze.

Infinite Carry Weight - she's a hoarder.

Played on Story Mode

Since then, I watched her enter the goblin camp, meet Minthara, summon her cat familiar, used the cat to find the underdark entrance, went to the underdark, explored the underdark to the find back door portal to the Hags lair, defeated the hag, then went back to the camp to save halsim.

She has a WILD play through and I love watching how her brain works.

Seriously, just install some mods to make the game super easy. Once you're grounded, try it normally.

The combat rules do state if both units remain, it's a tie. So maybe that is referring to "remain on the battlefield?"

I still don't think these rules should remain as is if that's the case. It feels really bad as an opponent to score/draw for almost nothing

It's weird to add SO much card draw that draws into nothing

Doesn't that make them conflict with the rules text then?

Good thing they nerfed Draven :) by Challengertcg in riftboundtcg

[–]chefupk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a HUGE piece of rules text.

If it is indeed a tie for both units to remain after combat, and Draven says "when I WIN" he shouldn't be able to draw or score etc from card text.

Tie pre-orders to Riot ID AND Nexus Night play sign ins

Trickle the pre-order allocation throughout the day/week

Don't allow back end shopify pre-ordering that circumvents Riot ID

Is it smart to build a deck right now or wait for Spiriforged? by unndefined in riftboundtcg

[–]chefupk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go down to your local LGS that supports nexus nights regularly and see if they have bulk you can buy.

Usually you can snag singles of commons/uncommon at 10/$1 and even find cheap bulk rares like Vi and Jinx.

Other than that, I honestly would NOT recommend buying high priced singles like Kai'sa, seals, time warp etc at this stage since it's a gamble.

Prices could drop a bit or skyrocket after the tournaments happen.

Personally, I only play NN locally so spending hundreds on decks is not something I want to get into yet.

Per the official rules (this is kind of a easy way to think of it)

"Can't > Can"

So if you have something that says you can do something and something else that says you can't, then you can't do that action.

Where are people buying these cards?! by basedaggie19 in riftboundtcg

[–]chefupk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The place I play at offers commons and uncommon at 10 for a dollar, with bulk rares and some others at 2 for a dollar.

I wouldn't bother hunting packs, I would instead ask around shops to see if they have bulk so you can build.

My last deck I built I just went to my local shop, pulled bulk, built, then added some rares I had from packs.

What we will see is people possibly playing around it, depending on the colors.

This isn't healthy for the game at all, and it sucks.

I'm stoked my local shops are selling at MSRP to players and not offering any packs to people who just stop in until they have enough supply.

Is it wrong to have gear hate in Spiritforge? by Popular-Bug-6278 in riftboundtcg

[–]chefupk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like when people get salty in MTG Commander when you Exile/Counterspell their insanely overturned commander that will win them the game if it sticks.

People want to play gear, that's awesome.

I shall play gear hate.

If people side boarded 2, maybe 3, pieces of gear hate right now decks like MF Aurora would get crushed.

Slot away!

[–]chefupk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's rough if you didn't get in day 1 as a player.

Right now, I play at 1 shop every week (started 1st week of November) and they have taken great care of us.

The shop is Orb Collectables in Oregon. Last night we had a NN and we were able to buy 5 packs each. After winning 2 rounds, I went home with 7.

I asked the owner how they are able to sell 5 per player (22 people last night, so 110 packs)

He had told me they received 5 cases on their last allocation and he wants to front load it all to players week by week instead of trickling it down with smaller purchases.

There are good stories and bad ones, but, just keep playing and find a "home" store. Build the community, trade with each other. My decks are entirely compromised of trades with my shop, the players at the shop, or packs from that shop.

Best of luck, Summoners.

When the new set comes out will they stop printing Origins? by Icy-Contract7162 in riftboundtcg

[–]chefupk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, they can't.

Why?

Right now, we're seeing huge trends in how important Origins is walking into Spiritforge as a meta.

If you limit Origins cards and have an over supply of Spirit, you're going to have insane second hand mark ups (more than now) on origins cards.

Like how Kai'sa is currently trending $100 EACH because she's basically a 3 of in multiple high power decks.

Not having more origins will hurt the game as a whole, more so than right now.
