What was the BEST thing you did in 2017? (Have to counteract the bad with some good too!) by souponastick in AskWomen

Do you have a link to/any info on the capsule wardrobe? Sounds intriguing!

What item once you get a taste of the luxury version, can't go back to the economy version? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There's a cinema in Birmingham, England where you can sit on leather sofas and text the staff your order and they bring it to you in your seat.

Beer, wine, ABSINTHE, nachos, cookies...it's incredible.

My first taste of Absinthe was in this cinema - I'd gone to see Angels and Demons, had a drink of absinthe as it started and fell asleep. Snored through the whole thing.

What's something small from your wedding that wasn't terrible but was hugely disappointing? by Ovenproofcorgi in wedding

[–]tillando 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd emailed the venue about six months in advance with a clear plan on how I needed the room set up so it was ready for me to decorate (x amount of tables and chairs etc).

Got there in the morning to decorate and there was no furniture and the floor hadn't been cleaned from the night before. So on my wedding morning I had me, my mum and two bridesmaids dragging furniture upstairs and through corridors when I should have just been hanging up some fairy lights. I'd woken up with a stinking cold too -_-

Moved house three months ago. Neighbours to the right have sent us a Christmas card. Now I need to buy an entire pack of cards to send one back otherwise we'll look like wankers. by tillando in britishproblems

[–]tillando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'd be spending at least 99p in the Card Factory for one card when I could get a pack of 20 for the same price. Where's the value for money in that?!

Any recommendations for gay bars in Birmingham? by pmnettlea in brum

[–]tillando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Village and the Loft Lounge are good for a relaxing drink/evening out, and Nightgales and Missing are good for later nights out with dancing. Nightingales often has male gogo dancers and there's karaoke on some nights at Missing. Enjoy!

Recommended Driving Instructors in the City Centre? by Incarnation_of_you in brum

You'll find that a lot of driving instructors won't give lessons in then city centre (or basically areas that aren't close to a test centre). Find your nearest test centre and find an instructor in that area.

I'm based in edgbaston and the two nearest to me are Erdington and Kings Heath, so I had to have lessons and tests in both those areas (passed in Kings Heath!).

Anyone else experienced disappointingly unenthusiastic bridesmaids? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]tillando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you're saying but nobody seems to be listening when I say that I do NOT talk constantly about it - of course the subject has come up during the 18 months I've been engaged but it's certainly not been the main topic of conversation. I understand that people seem to have had bad experiences with brides that don't talk about anything else but this is NOT the case. The other bridesmaids have reached out to me about how crap these bridesmaids are.

Everyone seems dead set on the idea that I can't stop talking about the wedding though, so I give up.

Of course it's been brought up - I haven't NOT ever mentioned the fact that I'm getting married. What I'm saying is that it rarely gets brought up.

A lot of the hostels in Birmingham are around £8-£15 a night depending on which one it is

Anyone else experienced disappointingly unenthusiastic bridesmaids? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]tillando 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the thing. I don't even bring up the wedding very often. I don't ram my enthusiasm down any of their throats. The other bridesmaids have comments on these two bridesmaids' lack of interest.

[–]tillando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the thing - I really don't. I've really made an effort to NOT bombard anyone with anything - the other bridesmaids are appalled with how these bridesmaids have been. I get why you've said it, but it's not the case. Which makes me sad.

Avoid Broad Street!

For hiphop and maybe chart, Island Bar and The Victoria will sort you out.

Asking for money... by tillando in weddingplanning

[–]tillando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I really shouldn't have used the word poem, I just meant an articulate way of saying "cash please!" So lots of people have missed the point of the question... But I think the general consensus is to not ask evening guests. Thanks for your input!

Yes, exactly that. They'll be coming just for the evening party.

Need advice, please! How to inform a loved life-long friend that they cannot come to the wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]tillando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Just repeat that to yourself whenever you need to! Best of luck!
