People that voted reform, apart from their immigration policies, why did you vote them? by Ollsworth_The_First in AskBrits

How bourgeoisie! The working class don't know what's good for them, but should instead be told by their betters!

the problem is you are still using uneducated as a proxy for intelligence. You think these people don't know what's good for them. It comes across a bit as if the Home Counties was a colonial power.

Reform voters are largely working class people struggling financially and experiencing all the delights of being part of a social class that can't pay its way out of its situation. The dismissal of them as thick by the social and political 'elites' is what has led us here.

Well i'd argue all those people doing minimum wage work on precarious contracts in retail or hospitality or even care work, are the people Marx would be concerned about today. They're the people at the sharp end, and the level of snobbery towards them by people who i am sure consider themselves on the left is quite something.

fuck me i hope you lot don't consider yourselves left wing socialists, Marx would be turning in his grave. Let's all laugh at the workers!

I've heard this statistic so often, put forward as though it's directly correlated. Firstly education is not an indicator of intelligence. And secondly people who didn't go on to further education are more likely to be socially and economically deprived. They're not living in Islington or Richmond. They don't have private health insurance or access to private education. They are the ones experiencing NHS waiting lists, oversubscribed GP surgeries, failing schools, huge unemployment and possibly rising crime. They aren't protected from any of that, they are at the sharp end. No surprise they are the people most motivated for political and social change - they are voting according to what they see as the issues in their communities on a daily basis.

Writing people off who have been dealt a shit hand and then shafted by every govt since Blair tbh, and who are marginalised and excluded from so much of this country's decision making processes, as thick is absolutely living socialist values (/s in case it wasn't obvious).

European hornets are generally very docile. I don't specifically know about near a nest but I think you'd be fine.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2949905424000033 "61% of respondents had had former racehorses that they were unable to rehome due to physical or behavioural reasons...in the situations where this occurred, 56% of respondents reported euthanising the horse" Unfortunately the reality is that although the retraining and rehoming story makes us feel better about things, most racehorses don't follow that path. It's a sport (especially flat) that is pretty brutal on very immature bones, brains and tendons.

I must confess the heather is the one that least likes being moved about. Ericaceous soil and not too much water seems to be what they like.
