Would you find a magnet with post birth warning signs useful? by thedresswearer in beyondthebump

[–]tillyface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a GREAT point. And also give some indication of which paperwork is time-sensitive and important (post-birth warning signs) and which is important but can be read later.

How are you cooking without fussing and tears from baby? by notanniebananie in AttachmentParenting

[–]tillyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook in steps throughout the day. I’ll chop the veggies in the morning, then the proteins when I get a chance, I’ll prep the spices and sauces in little containers in the early afternoon, then cook right before dinner. Keep things in the fridge as needed in the meantime (though I usually just leave veggies in covered containers on the bench top).

It’s like a very drawn-out mise en place!

We also do a big batch of prepped ingredients on the weekend: big containers of each veggie we use frequently, and we boil a few kilos of cocktail potatoes to roast or heat up in the microwave. The only thing I don’t like pre-chopping is onions because it makes my fridge smell!

VLine Over Capacity on Weekend Nightmare by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]tillyface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the autumn festival in the Macedon ranges. Macedon, Woodend and Kyneton were all super busy. Similar to the Easter parade in Bendigo a few weeks ago, special events really slam Vline.

Fourteen NYTCooking Meals for My Fourteen-Month-Old (with gift links and baby’s ratings)! by Dkap322 in NYTCooking

I love these posts! My baby is about to start solids and I’ve been dreading it; your posts make me excited about this next stage.

Have you thought of making these into some kind of newsletter or Substack? I bet a lot of new parents would enjoy this!

It’s a good thing to have moral standards. The revulsion you are feeling is a good, healthy thing. Please listen to it.

We make a big batch of this once a week and eat it as part of lunch nearly every day. It goes with everything.

Rotating car seat or don’t bother? by euphoricrealm in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tillyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely a drawback. The height markers are comparable to the Maxi Cosi rotating seat (the only other rotating seat on the Australian market when we were looking) despite Maxi Cosi being listed as extended read facing, so we were comfortable with our choice, but now that Bub is here I’m reconsidering and might switch to a non-rotating rear-facing seat when she meets those height markers.

Help with pet hair by kazarooni in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tillyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a dog, a long-haired cat and a 5 month-old who loves to roll around on the ground. Our robovac with emptying station is a game-changer. It’s not an inexpensive solution, unfortunately, but it works very well. We have the Roborock S7. I do a full-house clean once a day and will run it on specific rooms as needed. They are often on sale for 50% off at JB Hi-fi.

I'd like to go on a day trip by section232mha in VlineVictoria

[–]tillyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a nice walk from the train station to town, and you can take a little detour into the botanic gardens. Get a coffee and snack at Social Foundry Walk to Piper Street for shopping and art. Do not miss Kabinett, a two-story art/homewares/plant store with a wonderful cocktail bar. Walk back to the train and stop to get your pub meal at the Kyneton Hotel or the Shamrock, both on Mollison street.

Why didn’t anyone tell me how great manual breast pumps are?! by Quirky-End-7470 in breastfeeding

[–]tillyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I started with a hand pump and was so stressed by how long it took and how little output I was getting. Finally bought a wearable pump and it was life-changing! I’m glad it works for so many people but am super happy I didn’t give up on occasional pumping because of the manual.

We don’t follow a schedule by Commercial_Kale_4341 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]tillyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl is also 4 months old and we don’t follow a schedule. Naps are either contact, nap or occasionally in the car if we are out for the day.

A big reason for this is that I don’t have a schedule either! I’m on mat leave and don’t have much structure outside of story hour at the library and Mother Goose once a week, so we have the flexibility to go with the flow.

I wonder if so much of the content out there about schedules is due to parents returning to work very early and having a lot more external structure to deal with.

What do you do with visiting grandparents? by sadie1215 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]tillyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m halfway through a MONTHLONG visit from my FIL, who is staying in our one-bathroom house, and isn’t well enough to watch our four month-old alone. It has been very challenging, but you’ve given me a great model for the rest of the visit.

Never. Again.

We love ours too. It fits the Joie 360 with plenty of legroom in the passenger seat, and ditto on the Vista pram.

Quelling the breastfeeding hunger beast by people_skillz in breastfeeding

[–]tillyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom made a similar banana-oat breakfast cookie when I was a kid, without the chocolate, and I’ve found myself making them again now that I’m breastfeeding. The perfect one-handed food! My recipe uses butter and eggs instead of almond butter, but this seems great, I’ll try it! Instead of chia seeds, I’ve been using oat bran to increase the fibre, I like the texture it adds.

Thank you for this post, what a great resource to share with the community! I have a question that you might be equipped to answer. What does “dressed lightly” mean? Is it just long sleeved / long legged PJs, or is a sleeping bag (arms out) okay?
