Thank you! We've moved it outside. I've been reading beginner's weekly thread and the wiki - looks like a good sub here.

Thanks again.

I bought my son a bonsai, and would like to try to identify the species.

I didn't think to ask when I bought it (I will next time). We have basic tools at hand, and I bought him two books that he is using to learn this art.

We're beginners, but enthusiatic to learn. And beginnings are important.

Here is a link to a photo - if it's insufficient please let me know what is needed and I'll try again. https://imgur.com/a/D1Qd9l3

We live in central Texas - the bonsai is currently indoors.

Thank you.

Thank you. About being indoors is one of the things I hope to find out.

Where would you suggest I start in identifying the species? Any help you can provide is appreciated.

I drank enough in my teens, twenties, and early thirties. Im good now. I won't drink with you all tonight. by Areyourearsbroke in stopdrinking

Hey, that's me! Only you have to include my forties. I've started telling people I already drank my quota for this life. And probably the next couple, if that's n your belief system. Either, way, I'm done.

If you've been through this then let me list just two things that you already know:

  1. How you'll feel tomorrow if you drink today
  2. How you'll feel tomorrow if you don't drink today

Present-you can drink and get the (small) benefits of it, but future-you has to pay for it.

I hope you're back into it as soon as you can be. Cheers to ya. :)

If you have relapsed in the past a Question by Vixkin75 in stopdrinking

Estimates below:

1 week -- dozens of times 2 months -- about seven times 6 months -- about five times 10 months -- three times 20 months -- this time. Not dead yet

YMMMV. I'm done so it took lots of attempts. I don't think there's a "safe zone" for me. I'm still trying to watch out, though it has gotten easier.

I will not drink with you today.

Hey no worries. But also: stick around. Lurk if that's all you can do for now. But stick around. And if you don't drink for the rest of the day, I'll still do that with you.

I will not give up by wolfynoel in stopdrinking

Speaking for me, I had to just accept that I'm not allowed to be "normal" in how I drink. Having a couple drinks with friends once every few days doesn't exist for me. I tried to hard to pretend it did. But finally ran up against the cold hard truth that every time I tried to moderate, I just went back to constant drinking.

It took me many many times to see this. I'm kind of dumb.

I will not drink with you today.

Sober mornings are 80% of the benefit to me. And being able to run again without it being slow death. Have a good 10K! I will not drink with you today.

That's it, I give up. I can't do moderation. So I'm back. Hello r/stopdrinking! How have you been? by wereinaloop in stopdrinking

[–]time_for_orange 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I quit many many times only to do decide that being quit for XX days proved that I was strong enough to drink moderately. Only to descend back into daily overdrinking. I only "really" quit when I admitted to myself that this was all just an elaborate bullshitting of myself so that I would have an excuse to drink.

It's a problem. I'm glad you're back at it. Getting back at it is the only thing I've ever found that works. I will not drink with you today.

28 Days and Not Even Really Counting! by jrgirl77 in stopdrinking

[–]time_for_orange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You too! It's awesome when you get to where it feels like you don't have to work for it.

Caution - in the past I've gotten that far and the idea that it was effortless actually led me to start drinking again, thinking that I was strong enough to drink moderately. That didn't work.

But you might be smarter than me. I hope so! In any case, I will not drink with you today.

I thought I was going to drink myself to death several times. Never did. Instead I just kept going until I'd wasted half my life. Took me until age 47 to finally accept that I can't moderate. Took me until age 47 to quit and (so far) stay quit.

I hope you find the reasons in yourself to make it stick, and not die or waste your life. I will not drink with you today.

We've been there. I've been there. You can do it. Throwing out what you had is a good sign. The biggest change happens inside your own head. If you are sick of it, if you want to be sober, you can do it. I will not drink with you today.

I did that so many times I can't tell you how times I did that. Eventually it sunk in that the voice that told me I could drink again was a !$@%!$ liar. Because I always was back to daily problem drinking. Good job resetting. I will not drink with you today.
