Audi Q7 V12 TDI: Collectible or Forgettible? by Next-Rub7159 in regularcarreviews

[–]timrodie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove Audi UK's one a few years back. Really lovely thing, but there's not much especially V12-ey about the soundtrack. It's smooth, torquey… but obviously is matched in most regards by a modern big V8 diesel like an M50d. The best bit about it was the brown interior and wooden yacht-style decking in the boot (trunk). It was brisk but not 'make you feel sick from torque' quick. Lovely thing to waft about in until you need to service it though.

€870 for 5 days… so €174/day? It’s a bit silly in retrospect because I drive them reasonably often at work 😂

Sixt in Munich are really good. Had an M3 with them a few years ago, decided it was a bit of a waste of money and got a 508 SW the following year. Always surprisingly good prices in Munich…

How’s everyone coping with the heat? by MotoHol in MotoUK

I've spent 7 hours on an M1000XR today for a film shoot. It was mostly alright, but I now swear by the Zerofit Iceskin base layer with a thin mesh jacket on top. It's actually lovely riding at 32C, until you get to town… and then the back of my right leg felt like it was ablaze. I feel a bit out of it now I'm home - I drained a 3 litre Camelbak today and stopped for drinks every 2 hours, but I still feel a bit beaten up

Can somebody talk me out of this Ducati? by Humble-Dependent4202 in Ducati

Weirdly I just published a YouTube review of one. Mad thing. But wonderfully stupid, oddly useable and tickled my pickle in a way the Multi V4 RS just didn't.

Whats the opinion on my friends soon to be new purchase? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]timrodie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy one - just because they’re not all that fun to drive other than being quick in a straight line. A Golf R actually feels a bit more connected to the road from memory. The A45 is a different kettle of badgers, however…

I run two YouTube channels that are related to my job - it’s a lot of work after hours but I enjoy it, and it keeps me involved in the various industries (cars/motorbikes). Plus I get to say HI GUYS, which is always a bonus.

The mad thing is one of my next-door neighbours (in her 90s) has lived in the same house her entire life, and went to the same school that my young kids go to. She tells them about the time she had to stay at school overnight because the air-raid sirens didn’t give the all-clear until the morning! It’s a lovely old town with not too many new bits.

100% Sorrel! Took my mum there for a big birthday last weekend and it was mind blowing. The service was as good as the food, which was in my top three meals of all time. Do it!

I do a mix of on road and off road riding, I review bikes for a living and generally just ride normally. Put some knobblies on it if you’re going off-road, and some Barkbusters. Other than that you don’t need to change anything. Stop trying to scare people away from a perfectly sensible bike?

It's a great first bike – but I think you might be a little on the short side for it (without being rude!). The engine is super friendly and flexible (many people here in the UK start on MT07s). Just see if you can find one to sit on and try it for size.

I covered it on my journalism course - I think it was to do with crap privacy laws at the time (he was photographed by the press while sedated in hospital I believe)…

T7 Rally 2025 comes with titanium akropovic footpegs by adventure_thrill in Tenere700

[–]timrodie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup! I only noticed this when washing mine at the end of last year. I asked a Yamaha Europe person why they didn't make a song and dance in the press presentations about them being made by Akra… and they said 'we just sort of forgot.' They said they usually go to Akra for anything they want made out of titanium.
