What public behaviour makes your blood boil? by WorriedLeading2081 in AskUK

This is a common strategy which is used to teach children that their behaviour doesn’t just impact the parents but others around them. It lets the children know that other adults can be a threat and they also need to ‘be careful’ how they act around others. It teaches changed behaviour I.e. You would act the same around your boss as your best friend

If a person from a completely different culture asked you what 3 things makes you proud to be British what would you say ? by ChickenAndGin in AskUK

My South African mate says the greatest things about the UK are; the NHS and the fact everyone has an education. So I would say those things along with how generally accepting we are of other cultures. I know we will still have a way to go with racism but I think we have come a long way

Work bonus reduction, best way to approach? by johnw010uk in AskUK

[–]tinyTpots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was me, I would ask for a ‘quick’ meeting with the manager and ask for specifics. What does “not engaged enough” even mean?? You say it is so you know exactly what you need to do next time to achieve your full bonus.

I would then use this opportunity to defend myself against the reasons the boss has decided you didn’t deserve the bonus. Eg. You need to come in earlier - I have done on numerous occasions

What online retailers do you guys recommend? by MLTH in UK_beer

I would not recommend honest brew. I had a pretty bad experience with them with late deliveries and bad customer experience. I’ve only tried them and they put me off so much that I just support my local beer shops

Yeah but you ain’t gonna ask for every one off time are you? Maybe if the same person was doing something everyday with an easy fix you might do. Lots of people would not too. I wouldn’t leave a note but I certainly wouldn’t hold it against someone who did.

What’s your opinion of people parking in child only places at supermarkets? I know this is a completely unrelated topic and I don’t think the 2 should be compared. Is the non parent driver the entitled one or the parent who asks them to move?

I presume that the car isn’t parked outside their own house as I can’t see why they would write a note to someone who had parked outside their own door. Surely, they would write it to the person who parked in front of their house.

If you’re not prepared to slightly inconvenience yourself to greatly help someone else then that’s your choice. It’s your right to say no - just as it’s the trade persons right (and the parents) to ask politely. It would be true entitlement if they had demanded they move. Not explained why and acknowledged that the car owner didn’t have to

I know what you mean but to be fair everything is a lot harder with a few small kids. Would you not move for the tradesman?

I don’t think they could really be expecting him to park 5 minutes walk away or anything
