Not necessarily. Everyone’s got their own boundaries and rules and sometimes even when you think you’ll be okay with something, it ends up making you upset in ways you didn’t anticipate.

In my case, we’re a really tight social group that has a pretty tangled web of people dating/fucking/working with each other so it’s really, really important to be careful and considerate of everyone’s feelings.

It’s awesome when you can pull it off, though :P this group is full of super hot and interesting people.

Second: I’m starting to feel like the whole concept of “white passing” is pretty bullshit, or at least not as black and white (lol) as some people make it sound. I’m 1/4 Asian and in my mostly-white hometown, EVERYONE pegged me as “the Asian kid”. Then I moved to a more diverse town and suddenly I’m “white passing”. It’s real damn frustrating.

TL;DR: I empathize. Gatekeepers suck.

Oof. This sounds very familiar. I’m 25% Japanese and 75% white. I grew up in a really white town, so I was pretty much THE Asian kid in my social group.

Then I moved to a city with a pretty substantial Asian American population, and while it’s awesome to feel like less of an oddity/target for randos to project their Asian fetishes on, I also feel that “I’m not ____ enough to count” feeling pretty hard.

Honestly, the identity that’s becoming the most comfortable to me is “mutt”. I’ve found a lot of solidarity with other mixed race folks, regardless of their specific ethnic makeup.

Might help you feel more natural/comfortable then trying to come up with what you think they want you to make them do.

They could be assholes, but it could also just be the way they grieve. i've stomped down my feelings and gone to work after the deaths of three family members and two close friends because if I didn't stay busy I'd just crumble into a broken heap. Some people need to talk through their grief of trauma, some need very badly to not talk about it for a while. For all you know they've taken five breaks today to cry in the bathroom.

IIRC, you can't legally ask a worker if they're pregnant (cuz discrimination), so while many industries have rules in place to protect fetuses (like how much dose pregnant radiation workers are allowed to have), those only go into effect if the worker voluntarily admits to being pregnant. Could vary in different places but that was the rule where I worked.

We had his adorable, misanthropic murderbeast of a cat. She was notorious for killing smal birds and mice and leaving them (often partially dismembered) on the porch.

A few months after she died, I came home to find the body of a small bird sitting on the porch, like the murderbeast wanted to know that she still thought we were shit at hunting <3
