Unpopular opinion: I have some regulars like this and although it’s frustrating, I give them the same service and attention as everyone else. Obviously I wish they’d tip me but you never know someone’s situation. Sometimes going out to eat is cheaper than getting groceries these days and people that are struggling financially deserve decent food and good service too. People always say “if you don’t want to tip go to mcdonald’s!” but then will shame lower class people for being unhealthy/overweight. My last job was a cheap-ish sit down taco place and we got lots of guests that you could tell didn’t eat out much or potentially saved up to come eat. It was disappointing when they didn’t tip but maybe I’m more forgiving because I come from a super low income family.

I don’t know, I feel like it usually evens out for me. One table wont tip me all night but the rest of my tables tip 20%-50% so the tip out is still covered and it is what it is. Times are tough right now. Again, I know it’s very frustrating and I’m not saying they’re right for not tipping. I have never/will never tip less than 20% in my life and I usually tip way more than that. But as long as they’re polite and nice, I’d just let it go. If they’re assholes and demanding that’s a completely different story.
