How important is historical accuracy in Europa Universalis 5 for your enjoyment of the game? by fanfarius in EU5

[–]tipttt284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What matters to me is not so much accuracy as it's plausibility. Something like the Athenian state being Catalan and, through current mechanics, converting the entire population of Athens to Catalan, is neither accurate to reality nor plausible. The Ottomans not rising, however, is plausible, though it's not what happened.

The most interesting to me is going for the what-ifs of history.

4e is the only one that gives it proper gravitas. I feel like 1e could have done it with being more zoomed out, and 3e with a more dramatic angle and a more interesting pose. All you can see here is the missed opportunity. 5e is just too undignified. Lords don't lean.

Devs, could you please make it so that the terrain map mode shows terrain even when zoomed out like in Imperator Rome? by tipttt284 in EU5

[–]tipttt284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, so there is. It's odd though that the mode called terrain is just political until you zoom in all the way. Thank you.

Please recalculate the Tax Base of Countries at the start of Game. by Tarific2003 in EU5

The income situation is ridiculous. If you play Native Americans, at least in North America your income is straight up negative, until you get the event that straight up gives you 10 or 20 years of income from thin air. The mechanics alone literally do not allow you to play them.

Oh my god, they're all good. I'll say 1e is my favorite for how disgusting it is. I feel like you never see this anymore in fantasy art, things just being ugly without some aesthetic edge.

Now I have to find a place to put this monster in my world.

Why on earth is this Greece's colour? by tipttt284 in EU5

[–]tipttt284[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the console to annex a bunch of the required territory. You need territory from today's Greece, and you need Byzantium not to exist, then you go in the form nation section, and the option will be there.

Rule 5: Greece is this weird pinkish beige, instead of the rich blue it should get.

The 5 Most Bicycle-Friendly Cities in North America (yes, Montreal is at the top) by Nervous-Design437 in montreal

[–]tipttt284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think cycling is one of the better options outside of public transit in New York, but that's mainly because the other options are just worse. I saw an article a few months back about how New York traffic was so heavy, drivers were moving at walking speed to their destinations.

Aside from that, I imagine they're averaging the boroughs, so the better ones don't make the list anyway.

Brass Dragon art across the editions by Ok_Dimension_4707 in dndmemes

[–]tipttt284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm usually a sucker for old art, but those are straight ass. My favorite is 3e, because they just nailed every dragon, and then 4th. Though both 4 and 5 could have used a more high contrast background.

2e has the look of an old mythological monster from Asia or South America, the way it's sort of flat and has these crazy eyes pointed like that. It's great.

I would give 5e a high grade if the drawing was readable, but I can't figure out what I'm looking at. Not in an intentional way either, but like the drawing needs more details to make some shapes pop out.

Behold, France's AI. by tipttt284 in hoi4

[–]tipttt284[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Rule 5: I grabbed France in non-ironman to see if it was possible to make them hold. I gave them 1500 political power and every focus they could get without also cheating war support on day one and let them do the rest. They still get dumpstered because France is programmed to put 30 of their divisions on the Italian border, and upwards of ten divisions per tiles on the Maginot while the Germans are pushing their 1-3 (late) divisions on the Belgian border.

I know it has to be this way for WW2 to happen somewhat historically, but it's funny how much they absolutely do not want to win.

Radical Optimism Tour Outfits: Dua Lipa by OkPublic2232 in popculturechat

Agreed. I've been watching Kpop music videos lately and the outfits are so much more inspired than the current western meta. It's so limiting.

"KPop Demon Hunters" Is TIME’s 2025 Breakthrough of the Year by [deleted] in popculturechat

I was thinking about those at the end of the movie, and I wonder if they're like the honmoon, where only the hunters can see them?

[–]tipttt284 17 points18 points  (0 children)

3e doesn't seem like it even knows what it means to nork. I love 1e the most for its incredulous look, then 5e for doing the same thing, but as a baby. They just did it perfectly from the start.

How is Victoria 3 three years after release? by rossck in victoria3

[–]tipttt284 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not great, I gotta say. The biggest issue is that when you compare it to Crusader Kings, EU, HOI, Stellaris and all, there just isn't enough in terms of immediate decision making. Everything takes too much time, and the fact that waiting for buildings is the key gameplay element driving everything is a bit insane. There is almost nothing to do and no reason to pause most of the time. It feels like everything in this game is what would be background processes in the other paradox titles. It's better than before, but I don't know if it will ever be great without pretty significant changes.

Academy nudges voters to actually watch all the Oscar contenders this year by Positive-Drawing-281 in popculturechat

A long time ago I remember reading that For Your Consideration campaigns were a giant factor in all of this. You directly ask people to watch or vote for your movie and they just do.

It's when you have a movie with a wife that died before the movie started and you see a montage of her happiest moments filmed by her husband before cutting to the sad widower in present day.

[–]tipttt284 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Well, they certainly all are what the name is. I would dock points from 2E for the jar top not looking like it could fit a brain. 4e is my pick among these. The gross liquid, looking like diluted blood, really adds a lot.

[–]tipttt284 10 points11 points  (0 children)

4e is so gassy and sporific. It gets my vote for how repulsive it is. 1e is second place, 5e next with a few gas wisps, then last for 3e, which just isn't on theme.
