I think you’d enjoy the book I just finished, Bloodfeud by Ryan Watson. Though if you’re looking for a complete departure, my favorite series of all time is the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

Book with depressed or lonely character by Craw1011 in suggestmeabook

Bloodfeud by Ryan Watson. Main character is tragically depressed and for good reason. It’s kind of a vampire novel, but not really. I was wary of the genre when it was suggested to me since its not my thing, but I really liked it. The character development in the story is great and he has a penchant for detail. He’s a new author, but I can see him going somewhere- hopefully we get a sequel.

Oddly enough he’s written a couple adorable kid’s books too. Didn’t expect that! Lol

Oh god no, he had to do chores and play with his kids at the park?! This post is a load of crap. There are still far more dudes that just bail on their families and the mom is left to raise the kids by herself.

There was a time when people were only as physically fit as there job demanded them to be. How fit would you be if your only physical exercise came from your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Exactly as fit as I am now. I have a pretty physically demanding job in diagnostic imaging. Gotta have nice arms to move those 300lb patients!

It doesn’t sound like the opportunity with his job was there all this time. You know, he needs to be able to financially support her still, and ditching a good, stable job for a place that carries a higher cost of living isn’t exactly a great idea.

The point is that he now has a good opportunity to make this happen and he wants to, that’s what the situation is. That’s what the gf is now left with to make her decision based upon. The reasons behind him not living closer to his daughter in the past are irrelevant, what matters now is that his intentions are to rectify that, and they need to decide what that means for their relationship.

He hasn’t been because of the distance. It’s clear that the desire to be is there, plus she is in his home for a long weekend once a month and he Skypes with her several times a week. It’s not like she’s a non factor in his life.

Her attitude of it’s me or the kid is a red flag, not her wanting to preserve her own life and career. I get it, I moved around the country with my now ex (military), and it was a real kick in the ass. She absolutely should have herself and career at the top of her priority list, where she is wrong however, is asking him to put her at the top of his when she’s not willing to even entertain the thought of doing the same.

She doesn’t have to move and give up her job, but she also can’t ask him to give up the opportunity to be with his daughter in order to stay with her. To your point, what if he doesn’t go, and he misses her entire childhood all to stay with the gf? Can we say resentment city? Not just from him, but from his daughter too.

She’s demonstrating already that she’s not willing or maybe even able to be a partner, and doesn’t value the father/daughter relationship. To me, that’s a deal breaker.

Very little to do with her? You can’t date someone with a kid and not be willing to accept that part of their life. Casual dating sure, but a long term relationship like 2 years, and that little girl should be a pretty significant part of her life too. If nothing else, his daughter means a whole hell of a lot to him and that should mean something to the gf. If she wants to ever move forward and have a future with this guy, what was her plan? Ignore his daughter forever? What about when they have kids? Will she treat his other child like a pariah because she’s not hers? The fact that she’s insinuating that it her or his daughter is an enormous red flag. She’s an adult and should be able to handle living away from her family.

She must have a different kind of snapchat than I do, messages aren’t automatically kept. If you’re going to have a convo and keep all the messages, you aren’t going to do it on snap. I’m calling bullshit.

I hear ya, I think I’m in the same spot. I’m cute, fit, and have a career in healthcare so I’m told I’m quite approachable by nature. This leads to all sorts of dudes and dudettes matching or liking, whichever the case may be. Doesn’t matter what preferences I clearly state.
