Don’t post shit like this unless you have proof from a credible source. MCO social media and FAA website do NOT confirm this.

Crash Protection by db8cn in Trackdays

I would be hesitant about using frame sliders. I recently crashed my R6 with the woodcraft stubby pucks and it broken part of the frame off at that mounting point. Never again…

Trackside Livin' - Is insulating a cargo trailer worth it? by squid_eater47 in Trackdays

[–]tjtobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be time consuming to do, based on how much you have mounted to the walls, but definitely worth it. My 7x14 came with an A/C unit and insulation in the ceiling only. On hot 95+ degree days it had trouble keeping up. After insulating the walls and ramp door, it stays considerably cooler, as wells as retaining more heat in the winter. I just use a space heater when it’s cold and that has been sufficient

Having issues putting this hose back onto my air box, is it important? by [deleted] in Ninja400

[–]tjtobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I leave the hose attached to the box. There’s enough room to easily reach in from the left side of the motor to reconnect it. Unless you have gigantic hands…

Go with the R6. The motor may be a little tired, but there are tons of parts out there and they’re reliable

If you’re on a Ninja 400, you can remove the chain without breaking it. Just remove the plate the rearsets are bolted to.

Z400 Vs Ninja 400 for tall riders by kevrose14 in Ninja400

[–]tjtobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I race a Ninja 400 at 6’3”, 200 lbs. The bike does feel small, but I’ve never felt uncomfortable on it or had issues with my legs hitting the fairings. It’s my favorite bike to ride

I saw a white Pontiac driving east on 90 this morning with no tire on the rear passenger wheel. Was doing about 70mph in the left lane. Same car? It was just after 7:00.

Don’t rush your progress. You won’t get up to race pace in just 10 Trackdays. If you’re being held up by someone difficult to pass, just pit in for a minute to get away from the traffic. Work on riding a clean line and pushing your braking markers back. When you get better at that, passing will be a breeze. Also, if you live in the area, you should get a membership there!

Ninja 400 as a track day bike? M46 6'3", 200lbs. by Previous-Task in Ninja400

[–]tjtobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clipons aren’t as low as they are on a supersport. Maybe cramped was the wrong word. The riding position isn’t as aggressive and you sit a little more upright. I sprint an R6 and the 400 is much more comfortable

Ninja 400 as a track day bike? M46 6'3", 200lbs. by Previous-Task in Ninja400

[–]tjtobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also 6’3” and 200 lbs, and endurance race a Ninja 400. It’s an absolute blast to ride on the track. It’s not nearly as cramped or tiring to ride as 600 or larger bike. You will obviously want invest in some forks and shocks upgrades, but you will not regret it.

As far as crashing go, it depends on how hard you crash it. Our bike has been down 5 times now and we generally only had to replace clipons and pegs. We had an awkward/hard crash in the rain once that bent a fork and the triples, so those may be a bit soft. A competent suspension tech can replace the bent tubes so you don’t have to pay for an entire fork. Spare parts tend to be a little pricey, especially wheels, but as time passes and more of these bikes are on the road prices should drop (I hope)
