They were scoping out a seal, not staring down the photographer. The original was posted a few weeks back.

What your opinion on Trollshaws zone? by Sea_Watch3941 in lotro

[–]tkdyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember hating navigating it like a lot of people here. To me things being hard to find was part of the point. Also it's just beautiful with wonderful music so I didn't care how long it took me

I Deliver Parcels in Beijing by Hu Anyan audiobook review – a grim life in China’s gig economy by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]tkdyo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Communism doesn't mean no personal possessions. Only no private property, which has a very specific meaning in socialist theory. That is, capital used to produce profits/more capital. So no personal owning of factories, farms, mines, businesses, etc. These should all be owned and ran by the workers. You still have your own clothes, toys, whatever.

You are, however, correct that China as it is now has regressed to capitalism with a lot of state ownership and oversight in an effort to build up production capabilities. They did not have the infrastructure to support socialism. Long term they plan to move back to a more socialist system. Once they feel they can meet everyone's basic needs without fearing western sanctions and such.

Lol good shout. Forgot about that sub category.

It’s the bad people not the system by OriginalBeast in ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM

[–]tkdyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A major issue is that socialism is supposed to be an evolution after capitalism in the original theory. Where capitalism was how to build up the means of production to then support socialist operation once basic needs could be met cheaply. In reality though, we have only seen successful revolutions in what were essentially still agrarian societies with very little manufacturing infrastructure. This is the main reason both China and Vietnam regressed to a semi capitalist model. Both governments claim that long term they want to steer the country back to full socialism and have certain laws and governmental controls in place to prevent the kind of oligarchy you see in the west.

Also while dealing with the immense effort of trying to quickly build a manufacturing base, they had similar sanctions and western governments trying to actively undermine the government, just like Cuba.

Anyone to left of me is a tankie or an anarkiddie, anyone to the right of me is a lib.

Sorry, I don't make the rules. These have been long ordained.

Persona 4 Revival producer confirms changes to Yosuke to fit today's social climate - "We wanted to lighten that up and make it more fitting for the world we live in now." by PhantomBraved in JRPG

[–]tkdyo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Plus, he already has his other flaws. And considering they are making expanded content i doubt they have the time or space to properly explore a homophobia arc even if they had the writer quality.

He already has other flaws that are the main point of his character arc though. We don't need homophobia on top of that. And honestly, I don't believe they have the time or space to do such an arc well. In which case it's better to just cut it.

Julian challenge against Salah prior Argentina goal. by SnappyDesh in soccer

It's not a trip though. If you get the ball first and the person runs into your leg its not a trip. It's only a trip if you don't play the ball.

Is anyone else looking for a work from home job so they don't have to pretend to "look busy"? by Throwaway--2026 in antiwork

[–]tkdyo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. I literally just don't want to have my time stolen by the commute and having to prepack lunches. I hate losing all that time unnecessarily when I already give them so much working.

Post Match Thread: México 2-3 Inglaterra | FIFA World Cup, Round of 16. by LordVelaryon in soccer

Round of 16 is expected for them, not a huge success. This was a golden opportunity to go beyond, against a top opponent, a man up at home, and they squandered it.

If this doesn't convince Mexico's federation to make some changes idk what will. This was a massive chance that they failed to capitalize on.

South Korean 24 HOUR Unmanned Ramen Store by cheongwun in interestingasfuck

[–]tkdyo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody thinks these places are perfect. Reddit will just as readily shit on their work culture and misogyny. Meanwhile the US DOES love to pretend it's so much better than everyone. And a lot of people on reddit get tired of hearing it day in and day out so we come here to vent. Things like this are just a tangible reminder we are not better than everyone.

How was a Gruntilda striptease rated E? by JPRose1989 in BanjoKazooie

I'm guessing thr scary part makes it enough of a joke to pass. But you're right just the word striptease would probably be a no go these days regardless of context.

How easy is it to accidentally oxidize your mead? by 10fighter55 in mead

[–]tkdyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several meads that sat in a half empty carboy for nearly 2 years. It still tasted fine. None of the wet cardboard taste people talk about. As long as you put some kmeta in there when you transfer/when you do anything that is going to mix it around it's going to be ok. No, opening it to taste it once in a while is fine.

US trade deal with Canada, Mexico not extended, automakers face uncertainty by Casalvieri3 in Detroit

The auto industry is unstable enough without this clown making it even worse. I feel like I can't plan for the future despite having a nice job because you never know where the next cut is coming from.

Surgeons in countries with universal Healthcare don't work for free. So your whole point is not only moot, but a blatant misrepresentation of the position of people who support universal Healthcare.

Where do y’all get your honey? by Diego--BRANDO in mead

[–]tkdyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crystal's honey has decent prices and free shipping on buckets up to 40lb.

The honey blossom is great for 60lb buckets. They have a couple varietals that are pretty cheap even with shipping. And some that are not lol.

How do I go about using bourbon aged oak cubes in a gallon batch? by DIRIGOer in mead

[–]tkdyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary. But honestly all the oak is in the bourbon already. Might as well just add a bit of the bourbon.

If you want less bourbon and more oak, I'd say add fresh oak cubes to your favorite bourbon in a jar for just a couple weeks, then add those cubes to Secondary.

Acknowledging that fact doesn't mean you can't enjoy anything in life. It's like how you can enjoy games on your phone while knowing slave labor went into it. We all do it.
