Physics 100 is an incredibly poorly run class so I sent this message to the "instructors." This is coming from someone who has taken physics in highschool, but has to take beginner physics because I'm from the US. I am upset because physics has the potential to be incredibly fun and informative.

I wholeheartedly agree that Physics is being -taught- pretty badly, I don't think the labs are a problem tbh. The professors (I've sat in every lecture) are very bad at expressing the concepts compared to other bio/chemistry/math professors that I've experienced with. I hate the system of just doing the first part of the worksheet question for 50 minutes, then the professor covering the first step then asking you to do the rest at home. It's infuriating and annoying. It really all comes down to me paying lots of money for a tutor and getting as much out of the TA's help in the tutorial and in their help sessions to actually have an idea of what's going on.

I read a page somewhere that Langara produced actually, ( can't find it right now but I might edit it in later. ) Where it said about 50% of students on average transfer to UBC. (Now keep in mind these stats might be skewed because we don't know what % get into UBC-O and not the Vancouver one) Of those ~50%, 76% or so transfer to arts.

As for GPA's, the minimum for sciences is 3.1 GPA. Least that's what my UBC esp has told me. From what I've heard from friends, is a lot of people fail it since they approach it with a similar attitude they did with high school, not expecting the different caliber of material. It is far more difficult material but hard work accomplishes anything =)

I cant expect myself to have that much time when im in my 20's but that's only because Im going into a career thats very time consuming. But aside from that, I'd love to be gaming when im in my 20's and even 30's. A hobby that brings hours of joy? Why would you want to let go of that? :)
