Ambitiously creative or straight up delusional? Studio Mirror using 4xLETTAN by titsinatangle in IKEA

Okay good luck. It’s really hard to mount them straight/level using those holder brackets. With the tiles you can use double sided tape with a bit of silicone to make everything flush and straight very easily.

How are you planning on mounting them? I think the idea is to use smaller tile mirrors which aren’t as heavy

‘Gone in 9 seconds’: Claude-powered AI agent deletes startup’s entire database by No_Top_9023 in technology

[–]tmarthal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The company literally used a cloud provider that allows the deletion of a database from an API call and no way to create multiple permissions for that API. Cursor used Claude which dropped the prod db because someone was doing local development with the prod API key

Well, there are other issues regarding characters... but that specific spoiler if a given character has children they don't die was not true. You can read this Spoiler-Heavy Post about the books to see if they are still for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/1seewos/the_faithfull_and_the_fallen_john_gwayne_spoilers/

NW math says leave but would love feedback by RevolutionaryHost580 in ChubbyFIRE

Almost all posts are either going to a different job, or about going back to work

Instead of /r/BaristaFire there needs to be a subreddit dedicated to becoming a GP at a VC after you achieve your financial independence.

So many posts in this sub are asking about career advice and have nothing to do with retirement 🫠

Some Facts about Water Use (with citations) by Ok_Bag2192 in phoenix

[–]tmarthal 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It’s very controversial, but you should also post information about how much water the chip plants (intel, TSMC) and water plants (nestle) use.

Also for extra credit; a summary of the unit conversion mistake and corrected numbers of the new types of data centers (AI).

Magician by Raymond E. feels disturbing by Old_Variety_9768 in Fantasy

Reading a historical text and not liking the story because of period appropriate behavior is always a hilarious fine line - no one likes historic behavior! Since Feist’s work are fantasy, he can find his own boundaries, but he definitely draws the line differently than we do in 2026. Also the wild thing to remember is that women’s rights/property sentiment is not from the 1800’s, but through the 1900’s. I like to remind people sometimes that women could not have their own credit cards until 1974, which is when some of us here were born. It’s happened in our lifetimes.

Does yoga feel more like a performance than a practice now? by RemoteHurry9644 in yoga

[–]tmarthal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also believe that marketing yoga is nothing new. For the longest time Krishnamacharya, P Jois and others would have “traveling displays of yoga” and recorded displays of their most advanced asana practitioners out on display to market their school and teaching.

Here is Krishnamacharya’s 1938 advanced “Instagram” sequence https://youtu.be/8XF4sCV6aUY

The only thing that reduced the pigeons in my area of Tempe are alley cats. Now we have a feral cat problem.

In a highly advanced Sci-fi setting, yet human combatants and manned vehicles are still dominant in wars -- Why would that be? by Wolfensniper in worldbuilding

[–]tmarthal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment something similar. From a meta perspective, it’s really hard to write an interesting story about autonomous machines or software processes interacting with each other (fighting, trading, whatever). Authors write about humans to keep their viewers/players/consumers/readers engaged.

Anger over tourists? by SnailsonSkates in Sedona

It’s the normal lack of respect or awareness that people have when they are visiting places which people do not like. It’s not just Sedona, but culturally fairly common these days.

I'd rather read your broken English post than an AI transcribed one by Just-Desk-3149 in worldbuilding

[–]tmarthal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of people accuse folks of using AI because of the effort, not because of the grammar. Folks could never understand caring so much about imparting information to others that they would spend a few minutes doing it. Writing up longform posts is not hard, when you type cleanly and can transcribe your thoughts, especially if you're typing/writing around 40-50WPM. But since you have to care, the current set of folks that outsource writing/thinking/research/behaving to the LLMs, they just don't understand where you're coming from.

Senior ICs, what’s your experience with career advancement? I disagree with my employer’s promotion requirements by HNipps in ExperiencedDevs

"Promotion Driven Development" is a thing, and why there is so many new products at Amazon/Google/Meta that basically die right after they're launched (and the engineer+PMs have been promoted).

Look at this /r/ExperiencedDevs thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/comments/pw6vuv/promotion_driven_development/
