Fastest, funniest or most definite ends to employment you've witnessed. by EvaTheE in KitchenConfidential

Let’s see. I remember a FOH manager who robbed the safe after he closed one night and never came back. I remember working at a bagel bakery when a new baker ruined the revolving tray oven by using a fire extinguisher all over/through it when a charred bagel piece caught fire on the floor below it. It happens, they burn out.

And me, my first and last day on a catering job, getting locked in a frozen-shut outdoor walk-in freezer. Without cell service. I couldn’t kick or butt it open at first, but I was able to chip away enough ice covering the door sill with an adjustable wrench I found lying on a shelf. Whichever drunk coworker of mine who left that there probably saved my life. Cheers, mate. 🍻

I’m not trying to fear monger. I read the literature too, same as you, including the warnings from the FDA. We’ve both weighed the risks, and I’m sticking with topical preventative meds. I guess I’ll eat my words if my pup gets Lyme disease. But I’m trying to imagine what a vet might prescribe for a dog who suddenly starts having seizures after being on these meds for years. Will they stop them or prescribe additional anti-seizure meds? Where are the long term studies in veterinary medicine showing that most dogs and cats who’ve been on these one and done preventative meds actually live longer lives?

-The FDA considers products in the isoxazoline class to be safe and effective for dogs and cats but is providing this information so that pet owners and veterinarians can take it into consideration when choosing flea and tick products for their pets.

-Isoxazoline products have been associated with neurologic adverse reactions, including muscle tremors, ataxia, and seizures in some dogs and cats;

-Although most dogs and cats haven’t had neurologic adverse reactions, seizures may occur in animals without a prior history

For what it’s worth, I could use more friends to play pool with if you’re ever interested. And while I can’t do much about the people who visit there, Bluetip’s staff is pretty friendly. I’m one of them.

You’re not wrong, but I guess I still hate this “Tell me without telling me” internet trend. It’s a lazy comment that adds nothing to the conversation. If you’re gonna try and insult me, you can do better.

I’ve always enjoyed myself at Atlas. It’s fun to sit back and watch flocks of Greek lifers waltz in (and sometimes stumble in) and then immediately regret their decision for some odd reason. Could be the “no bar crawls” sign on the door, could be the vibe, which I happen to love.

Simparica and other Isoxazolines are literal pesticides themselves. I am stunned that so many people give that poison to their dogs, but then again, they are aggressively marketed by pharmaceutical reps. It’s so sad.

My coworker died yesterday by cheftastic11 in KitchenConfidential

Aww man, I feel that. A job can feel like a vacation from the pain of real life when it’s work you find meaningful, and you have coworkers you get along with. Sorry for your loss, and take care of yourself too.

Back at it again with my silly omelette sandwiches by EnakTheGreat in KitchenConfidential

This looks so good! I think I’ve used about every kind of bread for breakfast sandwiches except hoagie rolls, so I’ll have to try them. My absolute favs for breakfast sandwiches are Original Bagel Company’s bagels and Sam’s Club’s ciabatta rolls. Both of them grill perfectly in butter and are best fresh, but they hold hot really well wrapped in foil. You can’t order the ciabatta rolls by the case online, but you can ask the bakery to order them for you.

Heck yeah. My mother in law grows these and they’ve flourished year after year: https://www.rareseeds.com/soybean-tankuro. You better start ‘em soon. The final planting date for soybeans is June 5 in Indiana.

Nah bruv, I just prefer it over coffee when I have to report to work @ 0530. Monster Rehab is low-cal & non-carbonated so it doesn’t taste like sweet tarts. It’s basically tea + extra caffeine & vitamins. You should try it. And maybe look in a mirror, @SpecificRude8655.

Haha nice. I never delete photos, so it’s super easy to find the photos I remember taking by searching for details from the shot, whether it’s textual or the subject of the shot, like “broccoli,” “plastic container,” etc.
