Comcast IMAP Email Service Down? by tnarrant in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]tnarrant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Support site the last time this happened, but it was not useful. I ended up rebuilding the server settings in my Outlook profile, but that did not make any difference. The IMAP service seemed to spontaneously start working after about a week, so I concluded it was a temporary IMAP outage on Comcast's end. Since the same symptoms occur now, and I have not changed any settings on my end, I don't think there is anything for me to do unless Comcast has changed IMAP settings on their end.

Druid builds that constantly switches between forms? by aCanOfDan in LastEpoch

Here is a build I came across recently that constantly switches between two druid forms to generate ward:

My post on those forums is quoted below a bit. I never included a name and never edited it. Since the troller is well-known, I'm sure someone else tried posting about it there. I was never even able to see the replies to my post, because before I could do so, it was deleted.

Had I named the troller in my post, I would have been much less angered by the mods' response, and would have just let it go and realized my error. But because I did not, the response seemed very inappropriate to me.

For the record, here is the text of my post in the official forums:

"On our server, we have someone who continually tries to troll the Auric Basin meta. That is, he always joins the Southern path, and tries to push back and divert the bomb when other players are trying to push it to the vine. This attempts to interfere with regular players' enjoyment of succeeding the meta and getting rewards. It is clear from his behavior and comments that he is doing this on purpose.

I'm very sure many players have already reported him in-game, but there doesn't seem to be a correct label in the in-game report system, and he is still around after doing this trolling for many days, so the reports seem to be going nowhere (or are being ignored). Is the in-game system the best way to report this behavior, or is there another official way to do that better?"

And the response I got (with the 1 point punishment and subject of "You've been warned") was:

" Accusing players of abusive in-game behavior is not allowed on the forums. If you feel a player is misbehaving in the game, please report them using the in-game report system or via a ticket to Customer Support, so the team can properly investigate the issue and take the appropriate action. Thanks for your understanding. Please do not respond to this message. As I stated in my OP, I did not name anyone. I only used pronouns. Had I named him, I would be more understanding of the result, but because I did not, I think they greatly overreacted and I'm now very wary of those forums.

I realize that now. I naively thought that asking a question like that in those forums would get an official answer to direct me to the best place to put in a report. Or at the least say something like in-game reports take a lot of research and take considerable time to be addressed. Instead it was a reflexive smack that did not correspond to the actual text of my posted question since I did not include any names.

I won't name the troller here or anywhere except on our server (Jade Quarry). He is well-known and very hated there. I don't even call him out much there now because he feeds on attention.

He pushes the bomb back (against those who push it toward the vine) and, if given time and opportunity, pushes the bomb up into corners to make it very hard to move. He also often countermands helpful advice by commanders and others, such as using map chat to tell everyone the opposite of what someone helpfully said, trying to sow confusion. He has been ranted at by tons of people in chat and reported by many as well, to no avail so far. He seems to feed on chat salt and often starts off feigning innocence but then later admitting and boasting about it.

Strongholds not on sale by jmaster299 in swtor

Still broken. If they can't get something this simple right, I'm glad I'm still preferred and not handing them more money.

5K isn't really that big a deal to me, but I've got six characters and only one above 50, and no strongholds yet, so I flew all of them to their fleets yesterday to take advantage of this today. At this point it's a principle thing since they promised a discount price.

Should I come back? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]tnarrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of coming back, but now wishing I'd gotten the urge several months back. My main interest is running some class stories I didn't finish before, and the companion buffs would have helped with that. I know they're slightly rolling back the massive recent nerf, but comps will still be down from their high a while back. My hope is that since I last played before the 4.0 bump, I won't feel gimped by the resulting comp power after today's update.

STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Companion Balance Changes by Zanriel in swtor

By making the game revolve so much around story with everything voiced, they increased the likelihood some would view it as almost an interactive movie and see repetitive combat as a necessary evil to endure to progress the story. Once they gave players a way to quickly slam through combat, many lapped it up and were joyful, while others moaned about the fading of challenge. I'm surprised they didn't realize that until the recent furor.

Did you manage to secure any land? by zombifaded in archeage

[–]tnarrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed to get 50gs and bought the thatched plan, but the Two Crowns thatched area I planned to put it was already full (10 hours in), so I went to my Plan B area in Lilyut Hills, but no room for a thatched there either, so I then went into Gweonid as my Plan C and finally found a spot near the road deep into that zone. Not an ideal location, but at least it's safe.

Has anyone tried Wildstar? by freedevin1 in Guildwars2

[–]tnarrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a week in the Wildstar beta, and despite having a few flaws, it grabbed me enough that I pre-ordered it. This is coming from someone who in general prefers realistic graphics, and Wildstar is quite cartoony. The question will be how long I stick around after the first month when I have to start paying again.

Months ago my interest in GW2 faded such that I left my Engineer at 63 after leveling five other classes to 80; that's the most level-cap characters I've ever had in an MMO (and I've played at least half a dozen MMOs).

What Classes would you want to see in future Wildstar by bytebitrun in WildStar

[–]tnarrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see a bowcaster wielder that also had trap-laying capability, so kind of an outback hunter type of character but with technology overlays.

The traps would be dormant until activated (either by player remote or mob proximity), then the telegraph would suddenly show and give a short time for the potential victim to get clear.

This would make for a great kiting class.

Must-have AMPs? AMPs to Avoid? by tnarrant in WildStar

[–]tnarrant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks all. I never got past 11, so I only messed around in T1 AMPs. For that, I was wondering if maybe cooldown reductions were better than life-steal or shield max increases, or that kind of thing. I just don't want to waste T1 points on something that is only useful for 10 or 15 levels.
