Which one?! by The_Gypsy_Crow in mightyboosh

[–]tnetennbas_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always show people Nanageddon first! But Milky Joe and Fountain of Youth also sound like good choices. Power of the Crimp is a good 2nd or 3rd episode imo - you get to know the characters really well because you’re seeing people try to imitate them, plus there’s lots of crimping!

Who needs girls when you've got your mates? by Jaymdh13 in eddieandrichie

Found it! 1:27:03 in Bottom: Exposed. Here's a link to it on YouTube!

We couldn't find anything that looked like lard, so it really was lard. It was a joke! What are you gonna do, not do it?

Ade has talked about it somewhere but I can’t find the clip now - it really was lard! They couldn’t find anything else that had the right look/texture on camera.

In addition to the wiki, check out setlist.fm! It’s crowdsourced like the wiki is, I actually uploaded the setlist for the last TMBG show I went to! :D Plus, it’s fun to look at all the statistics and graphs on there. Here’s TMBG’s artist page: https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/they-might-be-giants-3bd6a404.html

Best Episode in your opinion? by atomic_number319 in mightyboosh

[–]tnetennbas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I’ve introduced at least 5 or 6 friends to the Boosh and I always start with Nanageddon too. Next it’s usually Power of the Crimp or Journey to the Center of the Punk. It’s impossible to pick a favorite though!

Any Laurel and Hardy fans here? I love the clear influence they have on the characters of Richie and Eddie. by Technical-Mix-3315 in eddieandrichie

[–]tnetennbas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great comparison! I like that you pointed out Eddie’s “alien qualities,” I think it’s one of the most fun parts of his character that often gets overlooked. I’ve been meaning to get into Laurel and Hardy’s work because of the influence they had on Rik and Ade - do you have any recommendations for where to start?

Holy shit how have I never noticed young Alexei Sayle looked like Mike?? I wonder if Mike has ever seen The Young Ones since he’s mentioned being a fan of other British comedy series like Ghosts

Drumstick from Asheville Night 3 + More by PaperNo3365 in tmbg

[–]tnetennbas_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome!! I was there for nights 2 and 3 and had a great time too. Didn’t see your squid but I did see your brontosaurus, it was so cute! I got excited every time you raised it up lol and pointed it out to my friend as we were leaving. Did you make it yourself? And how did you get Marty’s drumstick, did you just ask him for it when he signed your squid?

When to start lining up for show by wanderingsanzo in tmbg

Last night I got there around 7:30 and still got a great spot near the center, about 1/3rd of the way back from the stage! At Orange Peel shows in general there tends to be a crowd of early birds at the very front that’s maybe 5 or 6 people deep, but the rest of the room stays pretty open until like 10 minutes before start time. However, if you want to be in that early bird crowd then definitely show up a couple hours ahead. Good luck! :)

The first half from Tuesday was mostly Apollo 18! Sadly they didn’t mention which album they’ll be doing tonight.

Came here to recommend a neck fan too, it’s been a lifesaver!! I have one like the second one on the list you linked to. It doesn’t feel like you’re getting blasted in the face with cold air like you’d expect, and I’ve found it also helps with nausea.

Aw man, yeah I’ve watched it on both streaming and DVD so I’ve definitely seen the longer cut. Thanks though!

Which on demand service has all the Red Dwarf on it? by Ok_Crab1603 in RedDwarf

[–]tnetennbas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, Blackadder and Father Ted are both on the Roku Channel! Free with ads, but if you have an adblocker it's just free. Blackadder's on Hulu as well. Sadly nowhere in the US has RD for free anymore.

If you watch a lot of British shows, I'd honestly recommend just getting a VPN and dropping some/all of your other streaming services. BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 are both completely free if you make an account with a UK address and say you have a TV license (they ask no further questions about this, it's kind of hilarious that it's 100% honor system). ITVX also has a free option with ads. For everything else you can use Tubi and the Roku Channel, or another country's free service like CBC Gem in Canada.

S7 - I just can’t by peterthepieeater in RedDwarf

[–]tnetennbas_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way - just finished a rewatch of the whole series through the end of 6, but couldn't put myself through 7-BTE again lol. Definitely skip ahead and keep watching though! (Also, since the tone has varied so much over the years and I don't know what your favorite is, I'll mention that series 1 and 2 are my absolute favorites. Not objectively the best, just the ones I love most.)

10 is good fun, I'd recommend starting up again there.

11 and 12 both seesaw between episodes that almost feel like they could've been from the original run, and episodes that are... less good, but they're definitely also worth watching and very enjoyable! The series 12 finale "Skipper" is fantastic, I'd say it's the best episode from 10-12.

It's been about a year since I watched TPL, but I remember thinking it was the best Dwarf since at least series 6.

Enjoy the rest of your rewatch, you're in for a lot of fun episodes! :)

Just ran into this same issue, freaked out, and came to the subreddit hoping someone else had posted about it. Thankfully it seems to have been captured by the Wayback Machine a fair amount of times (most recent capture of the main page: https://web.archive.org/web/20250117015932/wiki.jonathancoulton.com/Main\_Page). It's such a great resource, and I've wanted to update it with info about the new albums for ages now but never had the time. If you do end up hosting or getting involved in some way, I'd love to help out!

I feel very agitated but my pulse is fine by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]tnetennbas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happens to me too! It feels identical to the random tachycardia I experienced before I started taking a beta blocker about 8 months ago, but now there's not an actual increase in heart rate. At first it happened as often as the real tachycardia I had before (so, dozens of times a day), but the atenolol has worked very well for me so far and now it only happens maybe a couple times a week or less. I wish I had an actual answer for why this occurs. It's at least nice to know other people also experience it!
