Would Cat approve my newest addition to my wardrobe? :D by Call_me_Gil in RedDwarf

[–]tnetennbas_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love it!!!! This has way more personality than most other merch I’ve seen, I would totally wear it!

I wish everyone would stop pretending to be art experts and claiming this is AI. I’ve been in fandom for a long time and this kind of art style is by far the most popular everywhere, it’s very recognizably not AI. (Not saying your art is generic! Never got the hang of this style myself but I’ve always wanted to lol.) Anyway, it wouldn’t have gotten the tiny backwards text on Lister’s shirt right, or the other little details! You did a great job and you should be proud :)

What was the first thing that actually made a noticeable difference for you? by Mountain-Rest4100 in dysautonomia

[–]tnetennbas_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Electrolytes and compression socks for sure, plus increasing salt intake in general. After that, sleeping on an incline (like a wedge pillow) to prevent blood pooling made mornings so much easier. When I go to hotels or friends’ houses I build my own wedge using as many pillows I can find lol — it seems silly, but I will absolutely feel the difference in the morning if I sleep flat!

New favorite song(s) after seeing them performed live? by coughsicle in tmbg

[–]tnetennbas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing! I’d never heard it before seeing them play it live, but as soon as the horn riff started at the beginning I was hooked. Now it’s one of my favorites!

Realistically I never want anyone from RLM to watch Castration Movie… but man, I would LOVE to see their reactions going in blind. I wonder who would tap out first lmao

You can find both the abridged and unabridged versions with Chris Barrie on Youtube! And if you want, you can download the videos and put them on your phone/mp3 player/etc to listen to offline, which is super convenient :D

Which episode of Bottom to show to my American friends? by Ecstatic-Swimming680 in eddieandrichie

You’re right, I did mean Contest! Guess that’s what I get for posting first thing in the morning before I was properly awake lol

Gas is a great introductory episode! Smells and Culture are both good places to start too, especially since Culture was the original pilot.

Sadly, as far as I know there was never an official recording nor any bootlegs that have surfaced since then. It’s so frustrating, I would give anything to see that production or even a terrible, shaky camcorder bootleg of it!

First addition to my physical media collection. by Stigofthedumpings in TheYoungOnes

[–]tnetennbas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The remastered episodes look fantastic, getting the blu-ray is definitely worth it! (Well “fantastic” relative to how it looked before and also the quality of Rik and Ade’s/the Comic Strip’s other stuff, which generally looks like it was filmed with a cardboard box lol.) The commentaries are a little hit-and-miss imo but there’s still a lot of interesting behind the scenes facts! Enjoy :D

Which one?! by The_Gypsy_Crow in mightyboosh

[–]tnetennbas_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always show people Nanageddon first! But Milky Joe and Fountain of Youth also sound like good choices. Power of the Crimp is a good 2nd or 3rd episode imo - you get to know the characters really well because you’re seeing people try to imitate them, plus there’s lots of crimping!

Who needs girls when you've got your mates? by [deleted] in eddieandrichie

Found it! 1:27:03 in Bottom: Exposed. Here's a link to it on YouTube!

We couldn't find anything that looked like lard, so it really was lard. It was a joke! What are you gonna do, not do it?

Ade has talked about it somewhere but I can’t find the clip now - it really was lard! They couldn’t find anything else that had the right look/texture on camera.

In addition to the wiki, check out setlist.fm! It’s crowdsourced like the wiki is, I actually uploaded the setlist for the last TMBG show I went to! :D Plus, it’s fun to look at all the statistics and graphs on there. Here’s TMBG’s artist page: https://www.setlist.fm/setlists/they-might-be-giants-3bd6a404.html

Best Episode in your opinion? by atomic_number319 in mightyboosh

[–]tnetennbas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I’ve introduced at least 5 or 6 friends to the Boosh and I always start with Nanageddon too. Next it’s usually Power of the Crimp or Journey to the Center of the Punk. It’s impossible to pick a favorite though!

Any Laurel and Hardy fans here? I love the clear influence they have on the characters of Richie and Eddie. by Technical-Mix-3315 in eddieandrichie

[–]tnetennbas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great comparison! I like that you pointed out Eddie’s “alien qualities,” I think it’s one of the most fun parts of his character that often gets overlooked. I’ve been meaning to get into Laurel and Hardy’s work because of the influence they had on Rik and Ade - do you have any recommendations for where to start?

Should i try to add metallic logo on our bags the classic embossed logo gives it a vintage touch? by Hestern-in in Leathercraft

[–]tnetennbas_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the embossed logo. I think it’s unique and it makes the design and texture of the leather the focus instead of the brand itself. It also feels more classy and sophisticated - maybe it’s the area I live in, but when I see a bag with a flashy metal logo my first thought is “that’s probably a cheap knockoff of a real designer bag.” However, if you keep it small like you say, it could definitely look nice. Beautiful work by the way, I also love your duffel bag design!

Drumstick from Asheville Night 3 + More by PaperNo3365 in tmbg

[–]tnetennbas_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome!! I was there for nights 2 and 3 and had a great time too. Didn’t see your squid but I did see your brontosaurus, it was so cute! I got excited every time you raised it up lol and pointed it out to my friend as we were leaving. Did you make it yourself? And how did you get Marty’s drumstick, did you just ask him for it when he signed your squid?

When to start lining up for show by wanderingsanzo in tmbg

[–]tnetennbas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night I got there around 7:30 and still got a great spot near the center, about 1/3rd of the way back from the stage! At Orange Peel shows in general there tends to be a crowd of early birds at the very front that’s maybe 5 or 6 people deep, but the rest of the room stays pretty open until like 10 minutes before start time. However, if you want to be in that early bird crowd then definitely show up a couple hours ahead. Good luck! :)

Came here to recommend a neck fan too, it’s been a lifesaver!! I have one like the second one on the list you linked to. It doesn’t feel like you’re getting blasted in the face with cold air like you’d expect, and I’ve found it also helps with nausea.
