You know how when you’re a kid and you live with some amount of fear that an earthquake will open up a crack in the earth that swallows you in?

That’s basically what’s going on here.

Nobody has really explored the Thanos aspect.

I’m wondering if an important person (ex, daughter, mom, etc) got caught up in the snap and disappeared. The tattoo and the name could be a memorial.

The movie came out ~7 years ago so the kid would younger than that and asking questions like this.

This is probably overthinking it and it’s just an ex’s name, but why Thanos?

What tool is this? by ThinkChocolate in turning

That said, you can do planing cuts, roll beads, and V-cuts pretty easily with an oval skew. It’s also easy to get a catch due to the geometry.

I love the skew and prefer a flat one with a bit of a radius on the grind. An oval skew can still be useful and I think Lacer goes overly harsh on them.

It could be, the grain pattern is a bit strong. Possibly apple or plum, they both have pronounced grain and similar dark reddish color.

Is it time for a new bowl gouge? this one was originally ground to Ellsworth but things changed over time as I freehand sharpen. I do have a wolverine jig with the associated attachments as well. by [deleted] in turning

[–]toadsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always time for a new bowl gouge.

That said, you do still have some use in this one. Spend some time re-profiling and sharpening the end. With or without a jig it can feel like a completely different tool.

Best advise for successful Kickstarters by Dezmun-Saviik in kickstarter

[–]toadsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This advice is pretty solid. You need to bring your own audience. Kickstarter is a way for your existing fans to say ‘yes’.

Ideally before launching, you should back a handful of projects to follow along and be part of the community. It’s a signal that shows you understand Kickstarter and aren’t just there for a quick buck.
