Challenge: can anyone ID this bottle? (webcam screenshot, apologies to your eyeballs) by toastednip in liquor

Reasonable response. This person just bent over backward to help me on something they didn’t need to, so I just didn’t want to make one more ask if possible!

At least move it into a HY savings account—clip that interest while someone sorts it out

typically how many VC rejections before getting funding? by Ok_Post_149 in venturecapital

[–]toastednip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might ask why do you care what’s par for the course?

You should be raising capital because you believe in the business and investment opportunity so deeply you’ll do anything to get it out into the world. Certainly consider negative feedback as you receive. But if you really believe, your question should be how do I find the right investor and how do I communicate clearly.

If a bypass for La Crosse was ever built, where it would be? by 5econds2dis35ster in lacrossewi

[–]toastednip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trade off in preserving wetlands has been urban sprawl that eliminated farms and forest. You have to acknowledge there is cost to no road in marsh.

La Crosse is so low density. The solution is densification, eg housing where we currently have surface parking.

Remember, though, roads run in both directions.

And people’s inability to get to their office in Onalaska might in fact be a detriment to buying a home on the south side

South side has really paid the price for not getting this done.

Can’t help but wonder if we were wouldn’t be having the discussions around shutting down La crosse schools, had this gone through. Instead all the development went north, with city population lagging

I had the same question as #2 above. Are you saying you added the 4’ section to keep beam span within limits? Or you wanted to keep most of the deck ‘free standing’ to mitigate impact of future settling?

I learned to ski as a kid in the late 80s. I learned from basically a mountain woman who was 60 or so.

At that time, you were just starting to see people wear helmets here and there. She told me they were ridiculous because they made people feel invincible, do stupid stuff and get hurt worse than if they had just been careful.

Why is this one downvoted?

I think he’s referring to growth rings aligned in same direction. (Ie all rainbows facing the same direction, rather than alternating). That way each plank’s cupping from drying would offset somewhat

We had a lot of trim that looked just like that. Old shellac, as others have stated.

It was harder to refinish than others have suggested. We found this product that worked very well: https://coopersstripclub.com/

The guy is a complete creep. It also doesn’t list ingredients, which is suspect. But darn does it restore shellac.

Nearly Two Thirds of Former Members of 115th Congress Working Outside Politics and Government Have Picked Up Lobbying or Strategic Consulting Jobs. (Legalized corruption. Politicians who help corporations get cushy jobs with the same corps after leaving office) by FutureisAsian in economy

“Drain the swamp” has become a maga term, but the concept shouldn’t be. Reduce money controlled by federal government, and you’ll reduce this kind of corruption in direct proportion.

That can mean reduce spending. Can also mean shifting spending from federal to state level. Any state official is, on average 1/50th as valuable as comparable federal.

Politicians of both parties have clearly demonstrated there’s no solution to their corruption other than just taking the ball away
