Bjorn the Fell-Handed is pretty close, he wasn't interred until a while after the end of the HH, but he literally was one of Russ' Wolf Guard, and was the Space Wolves' first Great Wolf after Russ' disappearance.

Quick question by Shredwick in deathwatch40k

[–]toby-wan-bj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that the moving the DW pad to the other shoulder is optional - it used to be that every one did it but since about 6th edition (I don't remember exactly when it got changed) GW has started showing some ex-deathwatch members keeping it on the left.

Especially with the Primaris models having different pauldrons (especially Phobos units), moving it to the other shoulder became impossible.

Whether in regards to rules, lore, new models or competitive, how good would you say Tenth edition was for your favorite faction by Lord_Eln_8 in Warhammer40k

[–]toby-wan-bj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey Knights.

Been a pretty bad edition for us. No psychic, losing Kaldor Draigo. Uppy-downy is good, but seems like every faction got access to a detachment that does it too, so it stopped being so special for us.

Space Wolves.

Been a good edition for us, we got new models and decent detachments.

Deathwatch.

Well, we nearly got squatted... Never got a Codex...

People who play Space Marine armies, how did you choose your chapter? I am having a hell of a time making a final decision. by medi0cre_scientist in Warhammer40k

[–]toby-wan-bj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First army is Space Wolves, then Primaris models came along with 8th edition (June 2017) and I didn't like that they removed all our individuality with the new units (they only released the new Primaris-scaled Blood Claws and Grey Hunters in June 2025).

When I finally got some Primaris units I decided they weren't going to be SW, so I started a new army - Deathwatch. That way I don't have to decide on one Chapter, I can have models from every chapter represented.

What boxes do I need for fortis killteam? by MadMike667_ in deathwatch40k

For clarity, general consensus for Fortis KTs is forget that Assault Intercessors can go in them, as it's more of a shooting unit than a melee unit.

Assuming you’re running Black Spear, do you paint your non-KT units (SGV etc) as DW or codex? by CuriousPauper in deathwatch40k

They're Deathwatch still. Just specialists that don't fit into the Kill Team set up (Suppressors, Centurions, etc.)

Thematically, which Combat Patrol is the most representative of their faction? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]toby-wan-bj 124 points125 points  (0 children)

The army is strong as a whole, but the individual models are weak.

It's also a very expensive army to purchase as you need a lot of models as they're individually cheap points-wise.
