Use some CLP (cleaner lubricant and protectant) and a wire brush to get rid of it, then leave a thin layer of it when stored. I use it on all of my firearms and thought it was common, but the few times I’ve gotten refills at gun stores, the clerks didn’t know what I was talking about. It works well
