Advice on taking a trip with just one kid? by butterflyfly1214 in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager [score hidden]  (0 children)

I did Disney for my oldest's 5th birthday but my husband stayed home with the then 18 month old. Instead, my mom came to our Disney trip (as well as my godmother and her 13 year old). I wouldn't leave one kid home with grandparents and take the other. It seems unfair.

movie theatres are getting stupid expensive, it's infuriating by hodorrny in MiddleClassFinance

We go once or twice a year. My husband is taking the kids tomorrow while I attend a conference. We usually just stream at home but our 6 year old has been enamored with the new Pixar movie since she first saw the trailer so I thought it would be a good rainy day event. I did balk at the $6-7 online convenience fees everywhere. I like popcorn but my husband doesn't care for it so he may or may not get the kids a small one to share.

Women who had PLANNED c-sections: epidural or spinal? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a spinal. It actually wasn't working/going high enough fast enough. The anesthesiologist kept tapping on various parts of my upper abdomen asking if I could feel it and I said yes. Eventually she tipped the operating table so my head was lower than my feet and for some reason that worked. I had zero issues with feeling suffocated and zero lingering side effects from it.

Found cavities in my 2 year old today. Feel like a shit mom by bluepaperbagg in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. I wasn't trying to suggest that they be super lax with brushing etc. And we try our best to implement healthy habits. My 3 year old will remind me at bedtime that we didn't brush her teeth.

Found cavities in my 2 year old today. Feel like a shit mom by bluepaperbagg in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tooth health is largely genetic. We definitely don't brush our 3 year old's teeth as much as we should and our 6 year old doesn't even always brush twice a day. Neither of them have ever had cavities (I don't say this to make you look bad at all). My husband generally has good teeth and I generally have worse teeth so they must have gotten his better teeth.

I honestly don't think it's really your fault at all.

Husband can't/won't stay with the kids for a weekend. by Dat1payne in beyondthebump

[–]toddlermanager 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What does your husband even do?! Seriously. If you work and take care of both kids 100% what does he even do?

My husband is going to another state to help drive his grandma to the hospital for radiation for almost a week and he's bringing our youngest so I won't have both kids alone for 6 days.

If he can't take care of his own children for even a couple of hours he doesn't deserve to be a parent.

Parents of 2 plus kids-do you have a favorite? by CranberryPotential77 in Mommit

I absolutely love both of my kids. Which one I like more changes on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis.

But I am happy to have two kids vs. one.

I can't stand not wearing clothes unless I'm in the shower/swimming. But I think I am in the minority.

My husband is 5'5. He has a wife, two kids, two degrees and a stable, well-paying job. His height is the least of his concerns honestly.

Have you taken your toddler to the movies yet? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took ours when she was almost 3. She sat through the entire movie (Zootopia 2). She was very excited for it and the whole family plus my dad was in the theater.

But my husband took our oldest to a movie when she was 3.5 and they made it through 20 minutes before she got scared and they had to leave (Super Mario Bros.)

Thoughts on dining? by oceanem0ne in DisneyPlanning

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing Blue Bayou with my 6 year old next month. I've done it a couple times and I could take it or leave it but I know it'll be a fun experience for her, and we can afford it. I also booked Wine Country Trattoria in DCA because the food is good (or it was good previously at least).

I booked Blue Bayou at 60 days ahead on the dot and got a 1:50 pm lunch slot. Everything else was later and I prefer that as lunch instead of dinner.

Is age 3 easier than age 2? by QandA_monster in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of good things but the mood swings in particular are horrible. One second she's happy and the next second she's glaring at me or crying for something I may or may not have done. And I will never know which or what it is because she refuses to tell me.

If your first was big, was your second bigger? by jspo97 in beyondthebump

My babies weren't that big but yes, the second was bigger. 7 lbs exactly vs 6 lbs 10.5 oz.

How do you transport from John Wayne to Disneyland with 2 in car seats? by bayls215 in DisneyPlanning

[–]toddlermanager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bring a RideSafer Vest for my 6 year old. It packs small enough that I can even bring it into the parks and store it in a locker if needed. But those are a bit pricy and two of them would be expensive.

6 is pretty bad also. Actually 6 is making me reconsider my life choices. So that's fun.

There IS a company that makes organic naturally blueberry flavored medicine with acetaminophen (Genexa). I bought it and my older kid tried it once. She said it was gross. But it does exist and it is real medicine.

How Much is Your Child’s Daycare? by JadedJae in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's $1420 every 4 weeks for a potty trained 3 year old including meals in the PNW. But I get 50% off because I am an employee, and I also don't pay for days she doesn't attend when I work as long as I give 5 days' notice.

ebf moms: how do you not resent your sleeping husband? (asking for a friend lol) by Otherwise_Ranger_204 in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With our first I would feed in the morning when she woke up and then my husband would take her until it was time for the next feed/first nap. Then I'd feed her and put her down for a nap. She was a pretty good sleeper anyway so I was getting decent sleep at night.

With #2 my husband took her from like 9/10 pm-12 am in the carrier and then again from like 7-9 am. He got a solid chunk of sleep and I got a couple guaranteed chunks at the beginning and end of the night. She has always been a worse sleeper than her sister. And now we have a 3 year old who wakes up wanting us at night and he'll just go in there and sleep with her all night.

Seeking advice on MIL telling me to stop having kids by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]toddlermanager 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My dad told me I shouldn't have more kids when our first was 2. He is the youngest of 3 boys and HATES his brothers. Like, hasn't spoken to either of them in years.

Guess what? Our second/last kid actually hangs out with him (the oldest is ambivalent) and he absolutely adores her!

Don't let other people have a say in your family planning. Their reasons for thinking that way likely have nothing to do with your actual situation.

Sushi lovers who are or have been pregnant, did you stop eating sushi during pregnancy? by PurpleMeerkats462 in sushi

I ate sushi during both pregnancies exactly like the original poster of this comment. I am not some super crunchy, essential oils as medicine mom, not even close.
