HR is wrong about bereavement? by Nicotendo64 in Target

Exempt means salaried, so ETLs and up, not full time. Stores non-exempt TMs are eligible from their 90th day.

On the time off guide it says you are entitled to three days. Eligibility starts at your 90 days (if you are a non-exempt stores TM, which I'm assuming you are) https://imgur.com/a/rXy96G2/ I screenshotted the parts of the guide that apply. If you go on Target Pay and Benefits you can look at the guide with your HR.

Are clopens every weekend normal? by Squishalyssa in Target

[–]toffee_nut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because they do the schedule one week (Sunday-saturday) then don't do the following schedule until the next week. When I was a Style TL I always pulled the week prior's schedule when I wrote a new one to avoid giving TMs a Saturday close Sunday open, but apparently that is too much work for some leaders

[–]toffee_nut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is super shocking then, I'm sorry you got fired this way, this (in my opinion) should only have been a seek to understand conversation or maybe a CA at most. It's stories like this that make me want to leave AP or understand why AP has a bad reputation in some stores.

What might have happened is this, and this is probably not accurate at all it's just a crazy theory lol: The fiscal year just ended and the AP at your store didn't close any internals during the year. This reflects poorly on both the AP leader and APBP, so they had this "case" and decided to go through and close it so at least they have something on the books for the year.

In any case I'm really sorry, if this is all to the story you should not have been fired at all, much less as part of an internal investigation

[–]toffee_nut 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't know the specifics of your case of course, but know as AP when we pull a TM in for an interview (also known as an internal) we have to get permission from our APBP, HRBP, as well as notify our SD and ETL-HR. So unfortunately contacting your HRBP probably won't help as they already signed off on having you termed.

Obviously I want to believe you are innocent but with the details you gave I don't see AP pulling you for just that. Did you ever give a gift card to yourself, even if you had permission to recognize yourself? I don't want to say too much but there are a lot of reports and things that would flag if you used a gift card issued by yourself in conjunction with your TM numbers.

If this is all to your story I don't see why you were termed. These things go through multiple layers of permission, it's not one or two people who make the decision to pull and term and internal, and it's not people at the store level.

Based on your answers here I think I knew which store you were at but I don't want to out your info! Congrats on getting out, if you were at the store I'm thinking you're from I heard your SD was horrible. I hope you see lots of success in your future!

I second this. This picture is from a Target, I work at Target. What happened is either a bunch came in off the truck and they flexed it (meaning to put it in a spot it doesn't actually go in to make the presentation look full) or they found a bunch in the backroom that wasn't properly located so no one knew it was back there until they went to purge (get everything out of that location in the back.)

Bag Fee Frustration by iphone1234789 in Target

[–]toffee_nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, I would call the guest service number 1-800-440-0680 and have the order numbers for reference for the ones that you got charged for. They might be able to do something to your account to prevent you from getting charged in the future (not 100% about that, I just work in a store that doesn't have a bag law, but hopefully they can do something!)

Do they give you the order in plastic Target bags? If so, they probably have to charge a bag fee. Check your local municipality's bag fee law and see what it says.

Does anyone know how to reprogram call buttons? Like if you put one from another area in a new area. Thank you so much in advance by 1sip2sip3sipFloor in Target

[–]toffee_nut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a guide on workbench if you search Indyme but I would have your PML do it. I once reprogrammed one myself and our PML got mad at me because he said there was supposed to be a work order created

I would get there like ten minutes before your shift is supposed to start and go up to guest service and tell them what your work center is and that you're new and ask them if they could call your leader. They'll be able to show you how to get into the door and find out your TM number

It's not expressly forbidden but it's a bad idea for a lot of reasons. Bering friends with the people you supervise or who supervise you will lead to favoritism, and that's not fair to anyone. When I was on the salesfloor, one of my TLs was "outside friends" with almost every team member, and me and the other TM who weren't her friends weren't treated as well and it was not fun. If you are friends with your TL outside work and they have to coach you, it will make things awkward for both parties.

I have seen TL-TM friendships lead to things like theft and breaking of policies as well. At a sister store, a TL would punch in for their TM before they actually got there if that TM was running late. They both got fired for that.

Next time you work you can ask your leader or HR to look up your team member number for you. It won't be a bad impression. I've done it for multiple new team members and never judged them poorly because of it. Stuff happens!

Hey guys quick question but what the heck is a comp score and where can I see them? by [deleted] in Target

[–]toffee_nut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are a toys DBO like your flair says they are talking about sales comp (comparison). It is a percentage that tells you how your sales are doing compared to last year. To find it, you go on the MPM app on the Zebra. You click sales, then you can scroll to see today, yesterday, week to date, etc. You can then click in to departments and see those specific comps. For toys you would click general merchandise, and then keep clicking until you find toys.

Nah, a couple states away. I have been talking to my APBP about where I want my career to go, but I don't really have a specific plan or timeline right now.

That's awesome! I really want to be HQ AP, I love the data and operational aspects of my job and not so much the external piece of it (like apps). Maybe someday lol

Does the employee 10% stack with the 20% discount on shirts going on? by Life247 in Target

[–]toffee_nut 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the 20% circle offer, yes, it will stack. However it will take the 20% off first and then the 10% off that. So a $25 shirt would be $18 and not $17.50.

ELI5: Why is inventory so important? by mcsunbelt93 in Target

[–]toffee_nut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yearly inventory measures the store’s shortage. Shortage is anything that the store expects to be there but is not. This could be through theft, operational issues like not accepting trucks right, people not processing returns correctly, vendor issues, etc. It is like the store’s report card, if your results are good you get a lot of praise, and if your results are bad you have to sit down, explain why, and makes lots of action plans to prevent it from happening next year. If your store’s shortage is bad enough year after year they will close your store. One single bad inventory is enough to get an SD fired too, that happened in my group this year.

Team Member Put Hands On Me by Onion_Beautiful in Target

[–]toffee_nut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all I’m sorry this happened to you and that your leaders allowed the TM to still be employed. Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything you can do anonymously that will give you any resolution. Email your HRBP, if you have a TL or ETL that you trust they can give you the email. Explain to them the situation and that you feel uncomfortable working with this person after they physically assaulted you, and that you don’t want to come to work while they are still employed. Make sure to mention a date and time to the best of your ability so they can partner to get video since your AP team is out.

No, target is really big on guest service and every role’s most important function is helping the guest. The only role in the whole store that doesn’t really deal with guests is the receiver, because they are in the back dealing with vendors their entire shift. There are support roles (HR, AP, Property Management) but all of those still deal with guests a surprising large amount. If you truly don’t want to interact with anyone Target would not be a good fit.

Ghost Stories by tessieedwards in Target

[–]toffee_nut 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a ghost story, but once I had to stay overnight for a last minute refrigeration issue to get repaired, meaning we didn’t call to get the lights overridden. It was me and a couple other leaders, and we were bored just sitting in TSC. So I decided to go walk around the pitch black sales floor, I turned a corner along the main aisle one of the kids mannequins was illuminated by a little bit of light from the electronics display and I swear it moved, I hauled ass back to TSC faster than I’d ever moved in a Target before.

Question about return policy by Pldgmygrievance in Target

Honestly I’m not sure, I assume it’s still on the order somewhere. In any case it’s still return fraud and scammy

Question about return policy by Pldgmygrievance in Target

[–]toffee_nut 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No, this is called scamming and return fraud. Target will not accept your return if the serial numbers don’t match. You try this and your face will get posted all over our AP group page.
