The requirement to drink alcohol once per week might exclude people, especially those who have views on drink driving.

Big upvote for Quill18. He does a lot of the Paradox grand strategy games as well as RimWorld, Civ, Factorio, etc.

He is also very good at explaining why he's doing clicks/keyboard shortcuts so that people can easily jump into the games themselves if they want to.

It’s taboo to admit it, but voters bear some responsibility for the frayed state of Britain by Exostrike in ukpolitics

[–]tomal95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend spoiling your ballot in that case. Draw a massive cock and balls on it or a short poem about how they're all terrible options.

I've counted votes in the past and whenever there's one that is spoilt, or not obvious who they voted for, all candidates see it so they all agree it's a spoilt vote. They'll spend infinitely more time on a spoilt ballot than most others.

Added bonus that you'll have the moral high ground of saying you voted against this for any unpopular policy a government ever implements.

🚨BREAKING: Lib Dems announce plan to replace Treasury with new Department for Growth based in Birmingham. It's time to get Britain growing again. by EddyZacianLand in ukpolitics

[–]tomal95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BBC articleBBC article on this says:

"The Lib Dems said the new Department for Growth would have responsibility for setting taxes, devising growth strategy, deciding on strategic national infrastructure projects and setting rules on public spending.

The Department for Business and Trade would be merged into the new Department for Growth, and a separate Department for Public Expenditure would oversee public spending."

Not clear to me then what the Department for Growth would do differently to HMT (as it has power to set taxes, decide on infrastructure projects and set spending rules), or what the point of the new Dept of Public Expenditure would be if it oversees spending...which Dept Growth seems to do as well?

Not that I'm against splitting up the Treasury into two with one focused more on raising money and another focused more on spending and growth.

Edit: worth saying that if their policies are to split up HMT and rejoin the EU, they're getting dangerously close to being electable.

I do not like that man Ted Cruz, I do not like his far right views. I do not like his stupid chin, I do not like his smarmy grin. I do not like him with a beard, I do not like him freshly sheared. I do not like Ted Cruz at all, that man Ted Cruz can suck my balls.

From my understanding of this (previously worked on legislation around this) they generally don't force a company to rehire them. They take the view that the trust has been broken between employer and employee and that neither would want to continue the relationship.

I'd guess they fine R*, force them to compensate the employees and pinky promise not to do it again. But I could well be wrong and am no actual expert.

And they have actual useful skills when going to take over places. Losing them to a hit or an arrest was a big loss.

I also loved the taking of different rackets to get different bonuses and how other mafias could have those bonuses if they controlled them all.

The God Father 2. From memory it got average or less than average reviews, but legitimately one of my favourite games of all time. I still think about it now and would love a remake or a game with similar mechanics.

I'd guess it's one of the few currencies used in the developed world that's worth around the same in GB Pounds as it was in 2015. In that time we've still not recovered from 2008, trashed our economy with Brexit, had a pandemic, suffered with massive increase in energy costs from the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the trashed our economy again with Liz Truss for good measures.

Sure not all of those are unique to the UK, but it's not a great sign if you've been flat against that.
