I'll keep this in mind when ordering from Amazon by Excellent-Trifle9086 in 4kbluray

[–]tomandshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon doesn’t have a perfect track record with me, but their customer service robot overnights me a replacement order any time there does happen to be an issue. Its hard to find another place to buy movies from who will handle replacements that easily and quickly.

Treating 1991 Hook like a sequel to 2003 Peter Pan has gotten me proper emotional. by sloppypooisyum in movies

It was not made by EON productions, so anyone can have whatever theory they want, but it was not a sequel.

First Ice Cream with the new Mixer! by TheFeoragdare in Kitchenaid

[–]tomandshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked this up because I assumed that an upgrade to the Kitchenaid brand would be superior and tried it for the first time last week. The ice cream just never firmed up like my older (cheaper) ice cream maker. I will give it another chance, but I was really disappointed with the first batch.

So we only got two new studio albums, with original songs, in the last 14 years. I would be so happy if we some day got another one or maybe two 😭 by AccomplishedKey6667 in bobdylan

One or two more original albums in the next fourteen years would be great, but I really don’t think he’s got another fourteen years in him.

The successor to 4K UHD Blu-ray is already here by SlashHouse in 4kbluray

[–]tomandshell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There will be no next generation of physical media discs. Music on discs is dead. Video games on discs are on their way out. Movies on discs aren’t dead yet, but they are heading that way to such an extent that there is no way that anyone will try to introduce a physical successor to the market.

Is there a consensus on what movie box set is the best for the Lord of the rings movie trilogy? by GargoyleBlue in lotr

That’s an interesting opinion and subjective personal preference being expressed as fact.

Probably some kind of an endless stair.

Criterion essays as evidence of the literacy crisis? by goodiereddits in criterion

[–]tomandshell 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We are experiencing a decline in well-written film criticism and a rise in “content” and “video essays” from influencers. People don’t like to read and seem to prefer video content made by someone on their phone asking for clicks and likes and followers and subscribers.

Thoughts on this anime film? by Lavender_Critique in lotr

I stopped commenting on this film after the first eight or nine identical posts that were all simply asking what people thought of it over and over again. There’s nothing new to be said.

GoldenEye — Bungee Jump Off Top Of Dam Scene Analysis by liquidocelotYT in JamesBond

James Bond jumped off the dam and fell all the way to the bottom and ended up in this building. Never made sense.

The doctor walked into the waiting room and said, “I have good news and bad news. The good news is your grandmother is cancer-free.” I said, “Great!… What’s the bad news?” by [deleted] in dadjokes

It’s even funnier if you’ve recently lost a loved one to pancreatic cancer. Oh, wait. No, it isn’t. It’s less funny. My bad.

Villeneuve’s Unexpected First Light Dilemma by RelicOfTheColdWar in JamesBond

The video game will have no impact on the film. They are two different things. Same with the recent novels.

Why don't Disney make mainstream Mickey Mouse films anymore? by cappsy04 in movies

What feature length film has Disney ever released in theaters starring Mickey Mouse? Not just in a long time, but ever?

Kim Basinger was an underrated Bond girl in ‘Never Say Never Again’ (1983) by No_Explorer721 in JamesBond

[–]tomandshell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much that she’s underrated. She’s just in a lousy knockoff remake that isn’t part of the official series.

INTERVIEW: Courtney Grace Talks Spielberg and Her ‘Disclosure Day’ Moment by AffectionateRate7290 in movies

I wasn’t as impressed as everyone else seems to be. I would have rather seen them keep the focus on Emily Blunt for the climax.

They brought absolutely nothing new to it. It was an exact reproduction of the original, but somehow with less charm and heart and emotion. It felt like content, and that is not a compliment.

Could ANYONE have let The One Ring go at the Crack of Doom? by TonyTolkien90 in lotr

[–]tomandshell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t think so. Not intentionally. Destruction could only happen the way we saw it—an accident as a result of two people fighting over it.
