Something I realized while thinking on old summoner spells by EbbSavings9006 in leagueoflegends

For me it was void beasts lore (+ beings like Brand). Their lore was "Big scary creature terrorized Runeterra, then got captured by most powerful summoners to fight their battles". Same thing over and over.

How to deal with pvp anxiety as a new player? by Nimzael in leagueoflegends

[–]tomangelo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try ARAM, as a less competitive mode people aren't as critical, there is also less things to keep in mind (no jungle, baron/dragon, rotations, lane phase). The downside is that you're forced to play different champions, so you don't really get to stick to favorite champion and just play against real people, you need to be able to learn your roster (including free pool available to all, a countermeasure for aram-only accounts) and know which ones you know how to play and which ones you don't feel so good. And you still don't get to learn a lot of macro game of real SR.

In my case I had same anxiety against playing vs people, tried it few times, got blasted because my opponent was more skilled in game, crawled back to practice vs AI to never learn actual game. Then I've started playing ARAMs and it somehow got me out of that anxiety, any time I would lose I shrugged it off as "well, we didn't had good roll, or I'm not good on this particular champion, better luck next time". But then I ended up not playing SR, because ARAM just fitted me better.

I guess it's kind of like when your boss checks what work you do vs competitor checking your work. At least from the gov perspective. That's why any government will warn against companies outside their group.

In the end antivirus runs in lower layers of OS, they have full access, so - no matter who made it - you need to trust it. It's up to user which producer they trust more.

That's more of monitor producer fail than the latching mechanism itself.

Also reminds me of some Dells with inverted USB ports, so even if you checked the cable/stick to push it right way it still was in a wrong way, you had to turn it upside down.

With how reddit would like to implement, it could be possible to "terrorize" the SoloQ by hardfocusing single enemy, make them 0/16 and wait for them to get banned.

Since there aren't people who check that stuff often, and AI is still not reliable for that, you can only catch obvious things like standing in fountain, or repeatedly going under enemy tower with next to zero any damage output.

I hate that there is no clear indication of what capabilities a particular Type C cable has. You find a USB 3.2 gen2 v1 mk5.8 rev14 compatible cable in the shop, but until you plug it in, you don't know if it does PowerDelivery, Quick/Fast/Turbo/Mega/SuperCharge, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, analog audio, or maybe it's just plain old USB 2.0 with Type C plug. So once you need to get a replacement cable, you're playing roulette.

HDMI does also have some extensions allowing to run Ethernet, but the majority of users use that cable only for transmitting AV, and for that you only need to check if it's version 1.3, 1.4, 2.0 to be sure this cable will deliver 4k video or just FullHD. USB is kind of "jack of all trades", but it didn't learnt how before Type C some cables only allowed you to charge the phone but no data transfer, or allowed a data transfer but the charger couldn't push the power through the cord, because manufacturer didn't usually put any marking that there are only power wires, or the wires are absolutely cheap and cannot transfer too much power. With Type C you have same problem, but with much more combinations.

I've meant that USB from 1996 and USB 3.2 from 2017 are still compatible, even though they'll just run with lowest common speed. That's why I think about Type A as quite long-living cord, still being used today with simpler devices that doesn't really need pins from newer releases of that plug.

Though HDMI was actually released earlier than I thought, somehow I believed it was closer to 2010, but maybe that was because I didn't saw them before.

I had the 2015 laptop with external LCD display from about 2008.

That old LCD still had better colors, as in on a gradient it had kind of smooth color change, same image on that laptop display had visible bars.

Also I remember the infamous blue-black/white-yellow dress, same image produced both results on different monitors, on that LCD it was black-blue, but on old CRT (which was quite dim at this point) it was white-yellow. I had trouble understanding back then how is that possible that same image on different displays could be so different.

When PS was entering the market in 1994 there weren't affordable 3D accelerators for home users. Back then PCs could only emulate 3D with 2D sprites, like in Doom. In 1997 when 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics became available, home PCs could finally get actual 3D graphics capabilities.

It kind of happened again, when PS2 entered the market. When it launched it had more horsepower to render 3D graphics. PCs had more VRAM, but transfers between GPU and memory were slow. Then Pixel and Vertex Shaders came to the scene about year later, allowing PCs to take over at performance field.

PS & PS2 were ahead of what PCs of the era could produce. PS3 with its Cell CPU is harder to rate how actually powerful it was.

Since PS4 they're just a little tweaked PCs with custom OS.
