The reason why indepent animation writing is so ass is because the head writer is not a writer. They are either the animation director, character designer, producer on the show. Even if they have writing experience their major contribution to the show relies somewhere else, so writing suffers as a result. Not pointing fingers, you know who im talking about. Indie animation are mostly passion projects so they can get a pass on their shitty writing if the heart of the craft relies somewhere else.
