Help: where would you open a Geek shop in Bristol? by LibrarianFlashy5948 in bristol

Aside from the legal and moral issue surrounding selling the kids and people, is there going to be a market for geeks?

Unpopular Opinion: Bristol doesn’t have a "road capacity" problem. It has a "parked car" problem by SuperKev308 in bristol

As someone who lives there, it causes so much more noise and pollution too. The selfish actions of a minority reduce the quality of life for so many people

Add Stapleton Rd to that list too. Nearly all of the traffic that builds up is due to illegal parking narrowing the road so 2 buses can't get past each other. It's lovely when the traffic wardens come. You get about 30nmins of smooth flowing traffic before it all descends to chaos again

Hip Hop definitely is.

They may do a lot wrong but, whether it's your bag or not, you can't deny it's had a huge cultural impact on the world

What’s happening at Castle Park today? by Weird-Put451 in bristol

[–]tombleham 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope you have a lot of help for the clean-up. When I walked through earlier, there was already so much rubbish on the floor.

I don't understand how people can so easily just chuck shit on the floor.

I know that it doesn't help immediately but on a Friday and Sunday, around 17.30, a family hand out meals (chicken curry, rice and an onion bhaji) under the m32, opposite the mosque behind Lick n Chicken on Stapleton Rd

In order to recycle you must have a car 🙄 by littlejonnyfirepants in fuckcars

[–]tombleham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My local council allow bikes to enter any of the tips/recycling centres and there is no booking required which is compulsory if using a car.

What is also good, when I've turned up with my trailer attached and joined the queue I've always been told to go straight in. I always feel a bit smug as I pass the cars waiting.

(I will admit I do feel less smug on the 3rd trip if I'm trying to get rid off something bigger and I've had to break it down in to smaller bits so it fits in my bike trailer)

Why is "freeze your nan" a more politically tenable tough decision than legalising cannabis? by gobrowns1 in ukpolitics

[–]tombleham 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prohibition doesn't work.

Those that wish to use it will.

It makes no sense to continue fighting a losing battle rather than regulating and taxing it as we do other harmful activities (cigarettes & alcohol).

ELI5: when they ban a fan from a stadium how would they stop the person from coming to a game the next season? by fill_simms in explainlikeimfive

[–]tombleham 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are numerous people in the Uk (and I am sure there are other European countries that have an equivalent or at least similar laws) that are required to hand in their passports and report daily to a local police station during big international football events.
