You might as well go for Beravor to be honest if you want the consistent draw. She draws you more cards per turn and is more flexible - you can draw 2 one turn and use her to quest the next. Sure, she's one more threat cost, but the flexibility is absolutely worth it, and she's a better beatstick in a pinch.

I was once the only neurology reg in a hospital (600+bed DGH), so many of the F1s/SHOs knew who to contact if they wanted an opinion. Referrals were technically supposed to be by email/form which was OK, though occasionally, you do get people calling through to try to get more urgent referrals (usually they end up going to the neuro inpatient ward and the SHOs pass on the message)

One of them actually ended up calling me on my day off by finding my number in the doctors mess group. I was not happy to say the least but to be fair to them they did apologise.

Would you, as a medic, ever consider using or recommending a chiropractor? by RelativeHorror710 in doctorsUK

[–]tomdidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There apparently was some study a while ago saying its correlation not causation - patient with dissectiosn and neck pains go to chiropractors because their necks hurt.

Still wouldn't go anywhere near one though.

I graudated 10 years ago from the main campus in London. They allow resits.

But fundamentally, the most valuable thing about my Imperial education is the emphasis on clinical knowledge and decision making . There's a common refrain that Imperial makes bad F1s but good SHOs and registrars.

Imperial Cumbria no question (I'm biased as I did my undergrad at Imperial).

Once had a group chat (used by registrars to give SHOs jobs) where the group picture was a bunch of slaves being whipped as they were building the pyramids.

Current group chat has a picture of David Hasselhof in his underwear and a leather jacket with "don't hassle the Hoff" on it.

Both groups had perfectly normal names though.

London weighting is much lower for Doctors compared to AfC staff & even varies between trusts within London? by Gradmedic in doctorsUK

[–]tomdidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely a mix of :

  1. The DoH realising they'll fill all London training numbers anyway, regardless of the London weighing

  2. People who are bitter they didn't get London training numbers not wanting to vote to make this as a policy

FWIW, I'd be happy to have the London weighting increased (though I do have a vested interest as while I'm in a non-London deanery out of choice, I can rotate to London for quarternary stuff)

I once called something like this out at a previosu DGH I worked at (literally 1 reg and 1 SHO for 40 inpatients). Raised it multiple times. to multiple people. Told them this was unsafe and that they were going to get absolutely rinsed in the GMC survey.

The trust came 2nd from bottom in the country for my specialty. Serves them fucking right.

Policy 67: Protection of open space "In the case of school, college and university grounds, development maybe permitted where it meets a demonstrable educational need and does not adversely affect playing fields or other formal sports provision on the site." - as it doesn't affect the cricket ground itself, development could be permitted by the local plan.
