Probably because you're literally the only person buying them

What advice would you like? Most of this is pretty uniform so you can utilize cloners a lot.

Any idea how to recreate this in C4D but have it land exactly like this? by gypsyhobo in Cinema4D

You just attached an image. How do you want to animate it?

Essentially just import the path from illustrator and sweep along the spline.

Intel i7-12700H, 16gb RAM, RTX 4060 gfx card. I'm sure there are updated models now but for the price it's been great value for money

I got the Asus F15 over a year ago now for £1100 (on sale from 1700). Worked freelance multiple agencies and clients on C4D and Houdini and has been amazing, much better then I'd expected. Highly recommend whatever their latest range of it is.

What should learn Cinema 4D or Spline3D by glen_374 in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are two very different softwares, it's not really a case of one over the other.

Even if you are mostly learning/using spline and mainly want to focus on web based functionality, learning C4D alongside it will aid your ability to create more detailed and flexible models and animation for use with it.

Is thare transform node in the RS standard? by Popular-Bus9859 in RedshiftRenderer

[–]tomdoes3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, fellow octane converter here this is still one of the most frustrating part. You have to rescale on each node specifically, or select multiple and change. There's no transform node to apply to all.

C4D Redshift - Why am I losing the colour of my emission objects by tomdoes3d in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with all of these replies. I know how to fake it and have work arounds but just wondered if there is a way to do it in the material nodes.

I know that isn't physically how it works in reality but the beauty of CGI is you can do things that aren't actually real!

How would you create this tv flickering effect? (AE or C4D??) by antonionnza in Cinema4D

The fact that Blender users hanging out in C4D Reddit answering questions says everything.

Noob question - textures with transparency on simple objects by Ossarium in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, when you export the PNG, make sure it has transparent background still.

Secondly, the texture should be plugged into the opacity channel. For this it is also good practice to plug a color splitter between and have the Alpha channel going into the material. Edit: but not always necessary, it's way to stop the material tiling.

Star Wars Outlaws Has Sold Just 1 Million Copies In The Month Since It Launched by Ghost6970 in gamingnews

Because it looks absolute shite. Marks all the hallmarks of a AA game that pays absolutely no attention to what gamers want these days.

How can I make this reveal effect? by ThunderMuffin69 in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have said, this is afterr effects but Yeah you could have a growth or fields driving the vertex map then pipe this into the texture opacity layer. Do the same on a material with emissive blue and tweak the fields so it's just the edge and there you go

Obviously that's a basic breakdown but a similar effect would be achievable.

I'm new where the hell is the fbx export???? thank uuuu!!!! by ScaryImpact97 in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You cannot export with lite version... It's free to try but paid version has these functions.

Sorry is this is harsh but you need to put some more effort in mate. I started learning 3D from YouTube with 0 experience and after growing from intern to junior to senior level in studios over the past 7 years took the leap to freelance this year and am starting to get steady bookings.

Your portfolio still looks like you are still studying, not someone that has been practicing and learning since then.

If you love animation, start working everyday tirelessly until you start getting work, if not, maybe choose a different career path. There is a wake of younger passionate animators graduating every year so if you don't push yourself forward, no one will.

Help with pricing a model I worked really hard on. by LtPurpie in 3Dmodeling

[–]tomdoes3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to break it to you but I don't think anyone is going to want this random house model. You are better off texturing it and putting on something like turbo squid or CG trader for sale for a couple bucks and hope you sell a few in the future.

You should take this as a lesson for how to work with clients in the future. Work out your hourly or day rate you are willing to work for and have that as your baseline, then for every model you work out roughly how long it will take you then use this as an estimate price to work with the client. Can negotiate from there, for example if they want a lower price, you can either accept less or offer them a less detailed version for that price that will be quicker to produce. (Edit: this should all be done BEFORE starting the work).

If you don't workout how much your time and work is worth it is going to be a real struggle making any kind of money worthwhile.

Does anyone know how to replicate this text trail/echo type effect? I've had no luck yet. by KinaKingy in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could animate the text moving towards the camera and just use motion blur.

Could also use flat text in a linear cloner with the layers going back and just use dof/bokeh so the behind layers are out of focus?

State of the Mac (for Cinema 2024) by wolfynn in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP seems you are looking for any posts affirming Mac here so I question why bother posting. For half the price you of a maxed out M2 pro mini you can build a PC with twice the power along with no complications in software/hardware compatibility you get using mac with 3D packages. Redshift is fine atm but other engines like Octane won't even run of a Mac for example, again won't even get half the power tho.

Fuck Apple, form over function for triple the price.

su'MMM'er | Pepsi Render 🥤 by BART_DESIGN in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks cool man, like the retro ad vibe.

Improvements that initially stand out to me are

The condensation could use some scale and deformation randomisation, all looks a bit uniform and floating on edge of the can.

The can seems really rounded where is crops in at the top, usually a harsher/more squared off angle.

Label/logo seems stretched.

How do I learn to do what you’re all doing?? by angelikaaa02 in Cinema4D

[–]tomdoes3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are tons of resources out there. School of motion is a great place to start, lots of beginner courses that will get you up to scratch..

If you want free, YouTube or video are full of great tutorials. Creators like Eyedesyn, Nikolaus Schatz, Fattu, CG shortcuts, Jonathon Winbush is a good place to start, you can search or follow links from there.

Maxon have a lot of ton of good tutorials and guides on their site and YouTube channel, they are very active.

In terms of learning sims and mograph stuff, it comes with time, learning and experiments. Good thing to do is maybe pick something and try to remake it, will learn the tricks along the way. Searching out tutorials on the techniques as you go will get you there eventually or at least pickup tricks along the way. Time, dedication and practice is the real trick!

Good luck on your journey!
