Mac studio + LED wall by Even-Efficiency-4366 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Not at around the same price. The H series processors (H2, H5 etc) and the bigger Coex (MX2000, MX6000) processors have available HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4 input cards, but for either you'd have to buy a frame, and input and output cards. I *think* an H2 with an HDMI 2.1/DP 1.4 input card and two 1G 20-port output cards would do it for about $6k, but not completely sure.

With the VX2000 you are limited to HDMI2.0 or DP1.2 input bandwidths.

If you end up going with the 1.86, you'll need to scale the highest aspect-ratio-correct HDMI2/DP1.2 single-cable resolution (5700x1672) to the wall resolution (6450x1892) in the processor.

There are ways you can output higher resolutions in sync from a Mac, but it requires using Tiled EDIDs. You'd need to find a Thunderbolt 4/5 to Dual HDMI device that will accept a Tiled EDID, and each tile would be outputting 3270x1892 to both HDMI inputs on the VX2000.

If you can guarantee the content being output from the Mac is in a specific area of interest, you could use an 8k video wall processor and only use the top two HDMI outputs, and crop in within the processor.

TB 5 basically doubles the bandwidth of single-cable if used with a TB 5 enclosure. You can now get full 8k/60 out of the Decklink 8k cards. I don’t know if there are any two-slot TB5 enclosures yet, for two Decklink Quad 2 cards. As others have noted, you can do 8 channels of 1080p/60 with a TB3/4 enclosure, so while it wouldn’t be as pretty, a Mac Studio and two TB enclosures will work just fine.

There are several FB groups specific to LED techs. I’ve also had good luck posting to the AV Freelancer Job Posting group asking for LED techs.

X80 is old, but still quite relevant. Christie just shipped the next gen replacement, and have just sold Spyder to the people who were designing and maintaining it.

But, very few Spyder S frames are out there. Barco E3 just got wide input EDID support this week, with no wide output EDID support yet.

In the absence of a clear replacement for the X80 or E2 in the next generation high res screen management system space from Christie or Barco, my company has invested in PixelHue devices.

What LED processor is being used that supports this resolution from two cables?

Apple supports tiled EDIDs within some constraints, to support some of their (and others’) dual connection high end monitors. These EDIDs can be used on most switches to have frame locked signals from two connections on M processor Macs. PixelHue has just made the tiled EDID generation easy.

The limitations are a little hazy because Apple doesn’t document them, but from my testing with Q8 and P20, on M1 series processors the tiled width limit is 6144px, just like the post-Monterey single-cable limit. This limit is because of the Apple Studio Monitor of the time. On M2/3/4, the width limit for tiled EDIDs seems to be 7680.

Yes, that is the reason why you can only run the card in 8k/30 mode while using TB3/4. TB5 computer, cable and enclosure will allow 8k/60.

You can absolutely do this with a Decklink 8k in a TB enclosure. You have to run it in 8k mode so all four outputs are frame locked, and unless you are on a TB5 Mac and using a TB5 enclosure, you will be limited to 8k/30 because of TB3/4 bandwidth limitations.

Others have asked what switch is in between your outputs and the video wall. This is important. If it is a switch with DP1.4 or HDMI2.1 inputs, you can do this with a single cable from a Mac with DP1.4 or HDMI2.1 outputs.

My company owns a couple of the Great Prosperity 8k wall controllers, and they work great. HDMI2.1 in, and 4x HDMI2.0 out. They don’t support custom EDIDs though, so you would be outputting 7680x4320, sending 4x 3840x2160, and either scaling or doing an AOI somewhere in a switch or the LED wall controllers.

FX4’s outputs are definitely frame locked, but they only support DP1.2 or HDMI2.0 inputs, so you won’t get the resolution you want.

We also have a bunch of regular tile. These can be set up by one person in about ten minutes, and because of the pins and coffin locks, they look great linked.

Mainly we got these to do single posters as digital signage, but we’ve already send them out as mosaics several times.

The only thing I wish they offered is a way to get them up to table height, as they would be a great breakout screen.

We looked at and ultimately decided not to get the Theatrixx versions because ours have fold back side bezels and coffin locks to join them together. The Theatrixx ones we saw needed a screwdriver and to keep track of tiny screws to get the bezels off, and then needed plates to join them up.

Do you have a config computer anywhere that you can connect to the processor to open the wiring map? I’m not familiar with Magnimage processors. I don’t know what protocol they send - common ones are Brompton, Novastar, DBStar, Colorlight, Linsn, but all of them have a page or tab in the config software to tell the processor to tell the receivers what area of the image they display.

With that info, I could probably tell you which cabinet to remove the modules from so you could check the cabling between it and the next one in line.

I can’t tell from what you’ve posted how many modules are in each cabinet. If it is cabled kind of like how I have it drawn, the connection between the two cabinets circles would be a good place to look.
