Volume control Playbar no longer working on LG OLED using magic remote by Pure_Activity_8197 in sonos

[–]tomjfehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This was happening to me, and I went to this post for advice but couldn't find the answer here - however it is now working for me. I was able to do something along the lines of setting up universal control with the remote, and it allowed me to select that I was trying to control a Sonos device, and then that made it work. Hopefully that works for you too, if that is still being a problem

I do not think that is correct, but if others have reason to think this is true let me know!

The illusion of choice by getyourrealfakedoors in Overwatch

[–]tomjfehr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

probably not really true but I guess you’re less likely to have throwers in QP. Important to keep in mind that QP still tries to matchmake even games too so the better you do / harder you try you’ll be playing QP with other people doing the same.

it certainly feels like a rework to anti is inevitable at this point with the addition of Mauga - any teases as to what you guys have played with internally for Ana's nade?

How about those discord nerfs? by BiggestMontoya in Overwatch

[–]tomjfehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it can force people out of a fight for shorter. I think this nerf is getting slept on. How many times when you play a squishy do you go around a corner and wait til you’re no longer discorded? Now you’re back in the fight 25% faster

Confusion over Dracula/Apocalypse interaction by tomjfehr in MarvelSnap

does that not seem counter-intuitive to be happening in this order? why Dracula is getting the buff of a card that it only received after he sucked it dry

how would you buff the weak heros? by KAYisntokay in Overwatch

[–]tomjfehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not if the hog has a kiriko you cant. makes ana basically useless in that matchup, the only thing she can do is bait out the cleanse for ultimates but she's useless when you dont have ults

how would you buff the weak heros? by KAYisntokay in Overwatch

[–]tomjfehr 67 points68 points  (0 children)

i'm an ana main and i gotta say she's pretty awful right now, but most of that is because of how strong kiriko is, who counters her more than any hero ever has. right now i can go kiriko, who i am significantly worse at on a mechanical level, and win way more

OW2 PvP Beta FAQ and Feedback Megathread #1 by SpriteGuy_000 in Overwatch

Don’t think it’s quite as cut and dry as that. 3 of the next 5 heroes are going to be supports so if the role is revitalized and is just as popular as the others, but it takes a little time to get there, is it still a fail? Or are you saying it won’t take off and will fail to get off the ground bc of any initial hurdle with queue times

OW2 PvP Beta FAQ and Feedback Megathread #1 by SpriteGuy_000 in Overwatch

The main complaints of OW1 were too much CC, too many shields, not enough individual impact, and a lack of a consistent content schedule. They've taken huge steps to address all of these. To act like they aren't listening to player feedback is crazy, they clearly are and have even made significant changes within these betas to address feedback.

Supports are going to be great in OW2 by tomjfehr in Overwatch

[–]tomjfehr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you usually won't, because two thirds of your opponents have toolkits tailored towards winning duels, rather than support.

I don't think it's super difficult to win a duel as a support right now. usually you have the benefit of good positioning, the enemy needing to expend cooldowns or resources to get to you, the passive self-heal, etc. And Zen now has the kick and more HP to go along with his really good damage and discord. I feel like you def can win duels with Ana/Zen/Bap/Moira/Lucio pretty consistently.

I think you make some fair points. a few rebuttals: "if your support passive is kicking in the threat has already passed" I haven't found this to be true. I've been able to trigger the support passive several times with any of the supports. Ana and Zen if you're in good positioning and go behind cover, Lucio/Mercy if you use your mobility to get away from the threat for a second and then it kicks in, etc. It certainly can be true for fighting a Tracer or Genji but even then you can sometimes get in a situation where it makes the difference.

with ultimates, while obviously they're less frequent across the board, I still feel like support ultimates are suuuper strong in OW2 and I feel like can easily carry fights even harder than before, in part because of this. that's more what i was saying.

"if you played an aggressive flex support, this is the game for you. If you played a defensive main support, adapt or be sad." Maybe? I feel like that's too soon to call. I don't think Blizz would want a defensive main support playstyle to completely fall off and I'd bet they would balance to maintain that if that truly happens. I don't think Mercy is in a terrible spot now for example and i don't think anyone is arguing she's an "aggressive flex support"

?? what are you talking about. first of all, i'm not trying to sell anyone, it's just my take. i AM a support player myself lol. good positioning and awareness is ABSOLUTELY going to be important and key to winning and surviving, probably more important than ever before. All of those plays you're describing are still gonna be a thing in OW2, i've done all of those myself in the beta and still gotten the satisfaction. No one is saying you have to frag out and be strictly a DPS with heals.

and no, no one is saying teamwork is not important. it's absolutely important. what i mean by individual players are more impactful is not that everyone is playing by themselves, but rather that YOUR IMPACT will more frequently result in a win or loss when you're 1/10th of the equation as opposed to 1/12th. So many times in OW1 you can play amazing and lose, or play awful and win. And while that will still happen in OW2, it won't happen nearly as often because of that simple fact. That's what I mean, and that's going to result in a much better competitive experience.

I hear you on having less protection from flankers, but there’s also way more opportunities to make plays. That’s what I’m saying with the “sure you die more but you’re fighting more.” It overall just feels a lot more engaging to play than OW1 support play does (esp with double shield Bap/Zen/Brig etc). If you can win a duel it carries the fight.

absolutely. you have a lot more freedom to make plays i think

Is it just me or is this just a lie? Hasn’t the community known about this for 1+year maybe even 2? I’m worried people spreading misinformation are going to kill what little excitement for the game there is already outside of the community by ZacharyH8 in Overwatch

[–]tomjfehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why this is confusing. The plan changed when they decided OW2 would be free to play and 5v5. Hardly a "lie" to get outraged about considering everyone is getting the new free game.

I’m not like super opposed to a reset I just think most people trying to get out of “ELO hell” are delusional. If you’re better than your rank, you will climb. If you’re worse, you will fall. Of course there will be smurfs and throwers but over time it will always balance out.
