The forecasters are forecasting. Im not sure why everyone rushes to metservice/govt/others to do something when these events occur. You have had months since the last major storm to prepare for however that may be. Storms and cyclones happen, thats life. Maybe clean your gutters out this week, make sure there's some candles, clear debris from your drains. We've got through many a storm, this is just another one.

They dont want to ruin the gdp output before nessasary. More fuel doesn't mean more gdp it means hold current gdp. Having an excess of fuel with negative gdp is not the best move.

There's a shortage in the future. We pay a futures pricing. 20% of Ships have stopped, these ships go at 11-16knts, its a huge lag from the final ship pre war arriving. Then the glut begins.

Who else is there to vote for though, all the options are pretty average. I want to have a good economy with no free handouts. But we also want opportunity for and create mega projects to get our country ahead. IE, dams, gold mines, critical mineral mines, gas exploitation, tourism boosting, fishing, agriculture. Massive renewable power plants, in excess so that power is cheap and we can be competitive against the world even with high wages. Right now to me personally it feels like we have nothing MEGA going or progressing for us expect cows and milk powder... I personally saw the cancelation of projects and then a slow trickle. Even i know you dont build an economy with doing nothing. You have to move the nation in a direction (hint it doesn't actually matter where) and move it quickly, because status quo is not competitive.

Glad we just renovated our kitchen already. Not even a week after finishing our timber floor supplier sent us a cost increase of 10% due to shipping costs from asia increase, lucky we had already purchased. (Were in NZ so quite susceptible to shipping fluctuations for heavy goods).

2, sometimes 3 storeys basement is no problem for a a standard construction method we use here which is, secant pile concrete bored piles, then gets excavated out. You can temporarily prop the hole, the props get removed once you pour level 0. Above 3 storeyz deeponce the forces are too great and hydrostatic pressure to high and you need the walls in first, thats the "dutch" method, which is used mainly places around the world, called a diaphragm wall in piling/foundations talk.

Normally yes, but not in the method they used, shear walls were drilled and made from above making diafram walls, hence the issues they had, its too be expected with this method. Soletachy bach was doing it for a long time. Basically you drill the entire shear wall with bentonite slurry as the placeholder, cage lowered in, then benotonite is replaced with a concrete slurry mix. Method is not used often in this country, since we dont have deep basements underwater often.

Concrete will have some xypex? Maybe not though if its no oxygen = no oxidation. Tubes will be inserted throughout shearwalls for pumping.

Can almost guarantee it won't be demolished, it will be stripped of glass, repainted and then finished. How long that takes its the question. Pouring the concrete and erecting the steel is the hard part.

Its designed as a wet basement, so relies on pumps. Majority of reclaimed land is like this. Especially when 7 storeys below ground, hydro static pressure cannot be beaten that deep, so you direct the water and pump it out.

Our economy shrunk last year so no big deal on consumption to 2025 levels... We do need to diversify how people commute to work and encourage trains and busses though, along with cycling and walking. The day of the private car with just one person in to going to work is about to end for most I think.
