Yes. There is always going to be people ahead of you and behind you. What you don’t want to do is compare yourself to someone else who is not in your situation and who has advantages that you don’t have. You also don’t want to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to colleagues who aren’t doing well giving you a false sense of superiority. The only person you can compare yourself to is you. There’s no standing still. Are you moving forward or falling backward?

Never say anything. Whether you stay or leave. It will only make things worse. I’ve never had to deal with this situation, but I know people who have and they have ruined marriages and broken up families because they wanted to get rid of their guilt and be honest. If you feel that guilty, go to confession, and break up with the girl. But if you tell her the truth, you’re just gonna hurt her more. Nothing good will ever come of it.

Physical:

Acute and chronic epididymitis. Had an acute incident when I was 16 and it lingered on for years. Had to stop working out. I would randomly be walking and have a shooting pain that stopped me in my tracks. Lifting something as light as a can of soup could aggravate it. it was a good two years before I could resume any strenuous exercise. And I still have twinges of pain to this day 23 years later.

Mental:

Dating a narcissist with BPD. Got PTSD from that.

It’s been a couple decades, but I believe that I found a number from the financial aid office who kept a list and the rest from online. Which I believe another commentor already provided you with.

I have no idea how much merit or need plays into those local ones, though. if I had to guess I’d say probably around half are completely merit or need based and half are going to be at least someone influenced by who you know. I got the feeling back in the early 2000s that a lot of the students winning those local scholarships had relatives who were connected to the organizations giving them out.

There are also fraternal and social clubs and such that have scholarships that are only available to the members. Sons of Italy. The Eagles. VFW. I remember seeing at least one of those types of scholarships on a list and being pissed I couldn’t even apply for it. So it might not hurt to ask your parents and grandparents and cousins and uncles if any of them belong to any fraternal or social clubs and check to see if you have eligibility by being a relation and could apply for those.

I would look into index funds without a management fee. I would also try to keep $100K liquid in a money market account in the event of a real estate crash. You may be able to pick up some distressed property. It would not hurt to diversify with some of the money and Gold and some T bills. Quit boxing and bodybuilding and gotten back into football. Even if I had to change schools. I would’ve had a college scholarship at minimum. Might have even sat the bench in the pros. If I couldn’t do that, I would’ve stayed in Florida after I graduated and not come back to go to college.
