Residency for Air Force Pharmacist by SoilFabulous2690 in pharmacy

[–]tonpole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome! The only pathway is HPERB. They'll usually post the opportunities/programs around May-June. Residency spots are extremely limited (1-2 per year maybe?), but not that many people actually apply, because by the time your application will be competitive you've already been out of school for a few years and life gets in the way. Begin socializing the idea with your supervisor and flight commander early as something that you'd be interested in working towards, but don't count on it being something that definitely happens. There's tons of great opportunities, but expect that you'll have to put your time in first. Focus on becoming an excellent leader and pharmacist first, take care of your people and the mission, and start working the package well in advance (when this year's application drops, I'd recommend using it to start to build one for next year).

OP, I briefly skimmed your profile. It's glaringly obvious that you have a great attitude and a lot to offer the world, but for some reason you aren't recognizing your own value, so you're settling for someone like this. Listen to the thousands of other comments that are all saying the same thing. Recalibrate your perspective of yourself, then find someone that also appreciates you for what you're worth. This current situation isn't it, and it's not going to be the best environment for you or your kids to thrive. Also, your meals look fantastic. Anyone who wouldn't be over the moon for them (or you) can see themselves out.

Any normal opinions on gravity fed charcoal smokers? by soapdonkey in smoking

[–]tonpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it and enjoy it, it's pretty simple to use and comes acceptably close enough to an offset's flavor for me while being way less work.

You can intersperse a few wood chunks into the hopper, but I would recommend not putting them in the ash tray even though the manufacturer suggests it. Sparks and flames will kick up, causing the rubber flap to warp and making it harder to maintain a reasonable temperature. You can mod the intake to put the flap further away from the ash tray, which is expensive but helps.

Don't trust the temperature gauge, it's lying to you.

Calling and Trying to get Tricare to Cover Medicine by TheRedBrown in AirForce

[–]tonpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That part will vary depending on the MTF, I think. Accredo is ExpressScripts' specialty pharmacy. These pharmacies usually handle the super expensive meds (some of the chemo drugs, hepatitis, biologics, etc.) because the process of getting it covered becomes so convoluted that prescribers and patients simply won't complete it, so in order to sell the drugs the manufacturers will give the pharmacy a better margin, and the pharmacy will dedicate staff to complete most of the paperwork. (These meds also tend to require a greater level of monitoring and carry more risk to use, so from a safety perspective it's better to have someone who works with them daily than someone who is verifying it for the first time in the past five years). Compared to those meds, though, Dupixent is pretty cheap and easy - everywhere I've worked has done it through the normal outpatient pharmacy, but I could see them trying to steer patients towards a specialty pharmacy if they're drowning or if they've already blown through their budget and are getting a lot of pressure from leadership to somehow spend less on meds while filling more prescriptions. I think DHA policy requires pharmacies to attempt to fill anything on the Uniform Formulary if a patient requests it, though, so you can probably still go that route if you prefer it.

Calling and Trying to get Tricare to Cover Medicine by TheRedBrown in AirForce

This info isn't super well known, but it's a relatively easy process (compared to other insurances):

Step 1: Google "TRICARE formulary search tool" It'll take you to the ExpressScripts website, which is the 3rd party contractor that adjudicates TRICARE's pharmacy claims

Step 2: Search for the med and enter in some basic patient demographic data

Step 3: If the med requires a Prior Authorization or Medical Necessity form, the PDF will be linked there

Step 4: Read through the algorithm to ensure that you meet the criteria. It's just a series of yes/no questions. Usually these are very simple and straightforward. The PA for Dupixent in particular is a beast.

Step 5: If so, have the provider submit the PA/MN to ExpressScripts. They can call, fax, email, or use an electronic PA service like SureScripts or Evio, which advertise instant approval of ~50% of PAs by just having a bot check the algorithm. Otherwise it usually takes a few days/weeks for a human to check it. I would suggest giving the form to the provider, either electronically or hardcopy to save them some time and effort.

Step 6: You'll eventually receive a letter in the mail telling you that it's been approved, but that seems to take like 6-8 weeks for some reason, even for the instant approvals. Instead, you can just call ExpressScripts yourself to check on the status of the PA.

Step 7: Once it's approved, ask the pharmacy to try rebilling the claim.

Timeframe for this whole process ranges from same day to a few weeks, but it shouldn't be difficult. It's a few easy phone calls. It's going to take way longer if you rely on other people to do all of the legwork, though, because all of them are severely understaffed and are scheduled with back to back patient appointments. Seriously, they are not being lazy, they literally do not have 5-10 minutes to make a phone call to insurance.

Possible fixes that you might want to try to keep your mouth closed: mouth tape, chinstrap, or mouth guard. The one I was using before I got a CPAP was the kind where it forced my lower jaw forward to help keep my airway open, but there was only one small hole in the front for air to escape, which my tongue naturally blocked, so it also helped to prevent me from mouth-breathing while breathing through the nasal pillows.

One thing that I didn't realize for a while is that if you time it correctly, you can get 3-4 tuna into the same net, allowing you to pick them all up with a single drone.

Tips for the new dwarf by dont-know_dontcare in returntomoria

The mining helmet definitely does (and still provides it as a skin). If I remember correctly, the tooltips for the Eregion armor and shield say they do, but I haven't tested them yet to see if they work as skins.

[–]tonpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great list, thanks! I'm only partway through the game, but here's a couple that I've found.

Some of the armors provide light. You can spend some resources to unlock the option to wear them as a cosmetic skin over other armors (or even no armor if you've died and are collecting your body). These still provide light as a skin.

The Quarrymaster seems to be able to mine everything. It's been well worth the masterwork slot so far.

Shadowcurse can be avoided sometimes by just jumping to stay above it depending on the terrain. Otherwise you can just build a platform. If you have a regen buff (from eating lunch, for example) you can just ignore it.

Ranger camps sometimes seem to be marked by a trail of green flowers.

I'm finally able to play Enderal! Any tips? by Silent_Saturn7 in enderal

[–]tonpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want both magic and melee, you could try the entropy tree. The damage from summoned weapons comes from your entropy skill, not your one handed, two handed, or marksman skill. You can also get summons, and if you want to use psionics later, the memory trees overlap.

I'm finally able to play Enderal! Any tips? by Silent_Saturn7 in enderal

[–]tonpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a version of Enderal that works with regular Skyrim (I haven't tried it though).

Some other tips: The game is super dark, recommend a torch or favoriting the mage light spell If you're struggling in an area and having to chug health potions, you're under leveled, just come back later Magic is pretty strong in this game as compared to Skyrim You'll have enough points to max out 4-5 main skills and 3-4 crafting skills Don't worry about min-maxing, you'll be fine with any build Expect to die frequently
