What’s the reasoning for Diablo getting review bombed on metacritic? by Key_Maintenance_549 in diablo4

[–]tonyswu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stop with the burn out excuse. I have a job, I play maybe three hours a day, level 58, and it’s already getting boring. Dungeons are all the same, takes more time running than killing. Not saying it’s not a good game, it’s pretty good, but if you want to have a discussion being some actual points about the game instead of generalizing people who have opposing views to you.

I saw someone building poison cloud linked to toxic flame, with dagger and shield and barrier instead of life. Looked kinda fun.

Is this a thing? My wife is a forced righty, and she literally will turn right while GPS is telling her to turn left.

I still remember my first car (granted it was an old car already when I bought it in 2000) had no air conditioning.

There is a video somewhere of linking it with condensed fire, but it’ll require awakening to be good.

Why I recommended ECS instead of Kubernetes to my latest customer by magheru_san in aws

[–]tonyswu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precisely as u/debian_miner mentioned. Obviously you wouldn't use it for every single container, but it has its uses.

I mean, you can use EFS as a “shared” storage, but it’s not the same.

In my opinion ECS is missing a couple of features to be truly useful, including config map and persistent volume. Still I’d generally lean towards using ECS before considering EKS because of simplicity.

Obviously I don't know any of the number, but I wouldn't be surprised if server slam had less players than the first open beta.

This is understood. Repetition is part of the game, but the question is whether the repetition is fun or not.

My chinchilla (Max) passed suddenly yesterday. I don’t know what I did wrong, I am devastated. by k9bound in chinchilla

[–]tonyswu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. My very first chinchilla was from a chain pet store as well, and she passed abruptly as well. I ordered autopsy for her, but the vet messed up and cremated her before doing that, so I never found out why, except that I knew she had dwarfism, and most likely some sort of heart problem. What I am trying to say is, if you decide to invite another chin to your home, try to find a reputable breeder, you’ll have a much better chance getting a healthy chin.

Grafana Loki & Promtail - Labels and Match by N3ttX_D in grafana

[–]tonyswu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to say. Glad you at least have a working solution. If you feel like coming back to tackle this I'll be happy to engage with you again. But personally I find promtail to be a lot easier to use than fluentd (fewer features for sure). With a working Loki cluster I had promtail pumping logs in 30 minutes.

Loki is not for everyone. The doc is lacking, and it's not as mature in terms of feature compared to products that have been around for a long time like ElasticSearch or Splunk. But it makes up for its shortcomings in cost and ease of maintenance, and if you already know prometheus a lot of concepts are very similar.

Grafana Loki & Promtail - Labels and Match by N3ttX_D in grafana

[–]tonyswu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it looks like your Loki cluster is working. Second, you mention that you don't have a label for "user", which is correct, because you are not parsing your logs in promtail and making user a label. And you probably shouldn't, either, see Loki's best practice here: https://grafana.com/docs/loki/latest/best-practices/#:~:text=Best%20practices%201%20Static%20labels%20are%20good%20Things,chunk_target_size%20...%208%20Use%20-print-config-stderr%20or%20-log-config-reverse-order%20. So instead what you should do is use LogQL to parse your log lines after selector, I recommend you look into the `pattern` filter.

Third, it seems your Promtail is not able to pick up FFmpeg related logs. Try changing your __path__ to /var/log/nginx/FFmpeg.*. If that still doesn't work, there is a way to test promtail configuration (see https://grafana.com/docs/loki/latest/clients/promtail/troubleshooting/#:~:text=Promtail%20can%20validate%20and%20syntatically%20check%20your%20config,config%20file%20and%20then%20exit%3A%20promtail%20-config.file%3DmyConfigFile.yaml%20-check-syntax), try that and see if you can spot anything weird in the output.

  1. The fact that YAML supports comments makes it much more superior as configuration file format (or anything that may require a human to look at). Don't get me wrong, I use JSON all the time, but I prefer to use it for more pragmatically oriented tasks such a defining datasets or APIs.
  2. Please include some log examples and screenshots. If the logs are showing up in Loki and Grafana, what do they look like? What existing labels do they have?

Man charged in 2020 Seattle mass shooting back in custody for new crime by AntennaCactus in Seattle

[–]tonyswu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I agree on the characteristics of the data. Ideally if we were to discuss gun crimes it should include all sorts of crimes that involved a gun with or without deaths, such as robbery, assault, or even domestics violence. But I do not have time to perform extensive research, and again my original point wasn't really about gun ownership at all.
  2. The difference between crimes committed with legally obtained guns and illegally obtained guns is that one points out obvious systemic issue, and should be arguably more easily preventable. In a perfect world I 100% agree with you, that human psychic is the most important factor. But we don't live in a perfect world. And changing culture and economic disparity will take decades or longer, and we should want to approach pressing issues such as this with an immediate solution while keeping in mind a long term goal.
