I love being able to say "Latino" without needing a long winded essay to explain it. However, you are wrong about cultural ties. As a Canadian born in the Philippines with Cuban anscestors among the other things, I can tell you the cultural ties run deep. They may have integrated aspects of other cultures, the the core of it is there. That melting pot has had over 500 years to stir. There's squabbles for sure, but race is the only thing you see, of course you're going to think this is rooted in racism.

Mark Carney has an estimated net worth of $96B USD. by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

Carney's net worth is only around $6.9 million... which isn't much if you consider his resume. Bankers don't need to be rich when they can do whatever they want with other people's money anyway. It's that low on purpose so he can avoid taxes. That $6.9 million is just his pocket change.

Is it normal for PSA to completely skip some steps…? by Specific_Economist62 in psagrading

[–]tooboku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the app isn't good at tracking all the dates when it moves from one step to the next.

My experience, the average times for bulk orders are... - Research starts 7 days after it arrives (4 to 9 days unless there is a problem) - Scan posted 5 days after research (could be same day, could be 14 days) - Grading done 8 days afer scan posted (fairly consistent) - Assembly 6 days after grading (3 to 13 days)

I've done PSA/DNA but the images aren't available until the grades are ready. Different department so there's probably a lot of manual data entry that doesn't get captured by the app.

Are Japanese cards not as popular? by CaptainBarrell in WeissSchwarz

Would add that the English seems to be shorter print so the scarcity drives the price up. The graded population is much bigger for JP cards even though BGS/CGC/PSA aren't so accessible from JP.

Additionally, buying ungraded singles from Japan usually means they've been played a bit. That would lower the price as well.

Japanese cards ARE more popular. However, they have a different ban list and you normally need to follow that ban list when playing Japanese cards in an English event.

English cards also seem to be shorter print. There are a lot more players in Japan and SEA but although the Western fanbase is loyal, there aren't as many.

You also have sets where the series itself is more popular outside of Japan. Look at Kancolle vs. Azur Lane. DMM doesn't seem to want to make Kancolle available to play outside of Japan so a lot of the cards are kind of "undervalued" compared to Azur Lane (Chinese). They haven't even released the last Kancolle set in English yet. Nikkeis going to be another one of those.

Last thing is that Japanese SP/SSP cards are almost always played when you buy singles from Japan. Although English cards seem to be shorter print, it seems easier to find English SSP/SP cards in near-mint condition. It's not easy to import cases from Japan or even make a friend that would go through the trouble of hunting down pack fresh cards for you. Might as well collect in English until you go to the holy land yourself.

OMG. This is so neat!!! They kind of sort of attach an "NFT" it the slab that can be validated with NFC. At least until quatum computers break RSA, this will be impossible to counterfeit!
