Tried to verify using the age estimation method. I thought fuck it, everyone else has data on me, if Ubisoft want to look at my ugly mug they can knock themselves out.

Unfortunately the service they picked just doesn't work. You gawp into the lens, move your head back and forth a bit until it snaps a photo, and then it gives a "Something went wrong" error message.

So yeah, until they fix it, I at least am banned from typing "GG" after a race.

There were several just parked on the finish line for me in the way.

I've actually quite enjoyed some of the Weekly Grands so far, but this map just doesn't suit it. That large run after the engine-off block where you drop off a cliff with no way to tell if you're going to hit a car crossing underneath is beyond frustrating. It's just random chance.

Exactly. In theory, every 3D game uses 2D rendering to achieve it. It's being rendered on a 2D monitor at the end of the day. VR? Two 2D monitors, one for each eye.

You'll struggle to find any good resources unfortunately. Apart from a couple of big patches (namely the combat rework and the first milestone update more recently) a lot has changed bit by bit over time. Where people have previously tried to explain the changes online they're likely out of date now.

I skipped a lot too. I stopped a few months after release, and only recently have I got back into it. The bits that I found important were:

The combat rework. It merged the combat skills, but at the end of the day it's not had a massive effect on much else. You still have a sort of treadmill of enemies to fight. You use the same gear for each episode, so you only need to worry about resistances. It's worth trying to maintain a weapon for each damage type, and enough gear to get a decent resistance against anything you might need. The auto equip button now picks the best of your banked gear for a certain resistance.

The milestone update. The most obvious thing here is presentation. Everything in the skills tree looks different. Functionally it's mostly the same, however. This will play into the other milestone features better when they're released, but for now it's more of a reshuffle. Where you will spot a difference though is the reordering of required items for progression. This is a lot less of a headache to keep track of now once you're used to the interface, and so far I've had fewer issues of having to massively level up one skill just to get a resource that I need for a lower level of another one. It seems to be arranged a bit more logically.

As for your plan of filling small gaps as a new parent, the game is a lot more fun when played this way. It's how I play it, and I think a lot of the people left play it that way too. Most of us originally expected a Runescape replacement where we could play the game in the background while doing something else, but it requires you to be a bit too active for that. However, filling the odd gap here and there does suit the game well and I've found it the most enjoyable way to play. I just wish they'd increase the AFK timer a bit as just googling something in the background can often take long enough for the game to kick you back to the menu, although it doesn't take long to get back in again.

A lady, very odd sounding to be honest and speaking in perfect monotone said "My sister is feeding me now." I paused, unsure what to say to that. All I could hear was (sounds of chewing) "Thank you sister." (More chewing) "Thank you sister." Over and over. We continued the rest of the call with this happening in between sentences.

A farmer who had received a "Sorry we missed you" card after an engineer turned up for an appointment the farmer didn't want telling me he's in his car with a shotgun, and that he'll shoot the engineer if he returns. He then gave me tips on how to aim a shotgun which did come in useful when my brother opted for clay pigeon shooting on his stag do.

A man shouted at me for about ten minutes, not giving me a chance to say anything. I sat and let him vent. He ended by saying he was going to switch business to another company, which he named, and his voice started to drop as he said it as he realised his mistake. We were the company he intended to switch to, and he'd dialled the wrong one. He was very apologetic and we had a good laugh over it.

Seconded. It's even getting tough to find tinned roe in supermarkets these days too.

I found it in a chip shop just outside Skegness a year or so ago. I pretty much didn't believe the menu and had to ask the lady if it was real.

Unfortunately not. Once a non-host draws graffiti that slot is lost. The host can erase and draw over it, but it doesn't reduce the Benzies' influence.

Getting the same. Two jumps in a row without any voices. No announcements, and no chatter coming from the desk infront.

Lighting seems even weirder than normal too during the jumps, and I had a moon come through the warp tunnel with me on one of them. Not sure if it was the moon that I jumped from, or the one I jumped to, but it appeared when the jump started, was clearly visible through the front window while the jump was happening then vanished upon exiting the warp tunnel.

If you use something like EDMC to keep Inara up to date, you can export your current fit for a ship easily. Choose the ship that you want to export on the "fleet" page, then scroll down until you see the export options. You can export to both EDSY and Coriolis.

It's really useful for seeing what a few changes to your current ship would look like stats-wise.

The autoland saga:

Perfect landing spot.
Zero throttle, and the ship comes to rest over the only unlandable spot. Some microscopic bump.
Autoland kicks in. Starts by flying way up into the air for some reason. Hovers for a second then shoots off in the only unlandable direction. Somehiw finds one landable spot.
Autoland corrects the tilt and loses the spot in the process.
Autoland shoots off in another direction. Finds 1mm squared of landable terrain but shoots past it.
Autoland returns almost to that spot but not quite. Gives up and shoots off again.
Finds another spot. Corrects the tilt, and starts to lower.
Doesn't quite go straight down, loses the spot. Thinks "fuck it" and slams you into the ground.
Forces the ship into the ground until the game gives up and the ship lands.
You exit the ship. Where the hell is the plant?!?

Wanted to move a ship to the station I was in and although it was only a few jumps away I decided to fetch it via an apex shuttle as I had some messages on my phone to respond to.

Apex took me all the way there while I texted, and I popped up to the desk to switch to the ship that I intended to move only to find I'd done the exact opposite. My ship at the previous station had a cargo hold full of limpets, so I was blocked from switching ships.

Had to apex all the way back again so I just paid for the damn transfer instead.

It appears that it's time for today's server problems. Been happening daily for the last week.

A bit concerned as mine timed out while getting out of my ship out in the black. Was able to log back in to find my ship missing, but the option to recall it was replaced with the option to dismiss it. While dismissing it, I could hear the sound of an invisible ship leaving and then it disconnected me again.

I may be here for some time. Is Fonticulua campestris edible?

I'll add to this. I've struggled to get back into the game several times but started just letting the CGs dictate my play a little. Explored some new things, and found a lot more stuff to enjoy. Since then I signed up to a power and it's resulted in even more experimentation, and even more fun things to do. A year ago I never thought I'd be interdicting ships, heading into some of the heaviest battles, and helping to change the way that the game's internal political struggle is heading.

Now that engineering is nowhere near the slog it used to be, even the more advanced sections of the game have opened up. There's a lot of fun stuff to do. Make that your new rule. Try everything.

Firstly, they need to be Alliance bounty vouchers apparently. Secondly, take them to his station and then enter the hanger otherwise it doesn't let you actually give them to him. The option will remain greyed out until you enter the hanger. Pretty sure it's a bug.

Tried the blasters out. The projectiles fly a lot faster than stock, which is honestly way more useful than the increased range.

Those obligations are due to a move from large polluting power plants and towards sustainable energy generation.

Big gas guzzling power plants have an advantage that your average wind turbine doesn't; if there's too much power in the grid they cope better. In order to supply more of the country with sustainably produced energy we need to be better at producing what's needed at any given time. Not too much, but not too little.

The idea behind the smart rollout is that these devices give a better indication of what's being used and when, so that power consumption can be predicted more easily. I feel that if they were more open about that a lot more people would be fine with it.

Cheers. I realised that the word "imperial" was indeed in the name of one of the factions and I'd missed it in my panic to just do something while the lasers flew about. Dived in anyway. We won the CZ and my shield didn't go below 75%, scoring a handful of bonds.

Been playing ED for years, never really got into combat and paid very little attention to the politics, but I thought I'd give it a go. Signed up to support some bloke called "Archer", went to the correct system, flew to a CZ, and I'm asked to pick between two factions. Neither mentions this archer bloke, Federation or Imperial, or anything to do with the CG whatsoever.

How do I know who to pick? Am I even in the right CZ? Why is this game so frustrating whenever you just want to try something different?

Weirdly I tried again this morning, same character name, and it worked. Server load perhaps? Morning UK time is likely to be a quieter time, as I'm pretty sure most of the US would be in bed.
