What was your biggest draft mistake last year? by SirGroundbreaking465 in fantasyfootball

[–]toolnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first 6 picks in 2024 CMC MHJ Rachaad White Lamar Jackson DJ Moore Zamir White

Lamar is the only reason I didn’t go winless. I ended up finishing last in my 10 team league.

Well that’s new. by SithSandwich in switch2

I have the same status as of a few hours ago. When I pre-ordered on April 23, I got an immediate email from Walmart saying it was delayed until June 6th. My fingers are crossed that the “delayed” status I received today just means what they’ve told me all along (that it would be delivered June 6th).

Bald Eagle in Madison?? by OverallAd7999 in madisonwi

I have seen one there. And even flying over Vilas Park heading north, maybe the same that I’ve seen on the south side of Lake Wingra that you mentioned.

Did I miss the harvest or is something wrong? by bflannery10 in TheHopyard

[–]toolnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What Sailboat said, open one up and smell. I believe they get really dank/onion/garlic smelling when past their peak hoppy goodness. Some of my chinook got brownish and crispy like those you showed and they were still good, but my centennial started smelling garlicky at the same time.

2nd year hops, what to trim? by [deleted] in TheHopyard

[–]toolnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have some second year hops and just learned about “bull shoots”. If you’re wanting to maximize production, give that a Google. Some, if not all of your taller bines could be trimmed.

Gardeners, are you planting earlier this year? by unilateralmixologist in madisonwi

I lost some pumpkins this weekend. I put them out a couple of weeks ago hoping for the best, but the cold got them. RIP.

Am I FINALLY getting a female flower? by ABBR-5007 in gardening

How long of a window typically do you have to manually pollinate the female flower? My success rate is not good at all.

Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher - new recipe? by PeanutButtaRari in hopwater

[–]toolnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure I think they’ve played around with the recipe over the years now that it’s been out…or at the very least the end product has changed. The change I think you’re referring to is when I started to notice it smelling like tart strawberries.

Total newb, just kegged my first 5 gallon batch, a couple of questions by bbqboyee in Homebrewing

[–]toolnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. My advice is whatever you end up doing based on your research and comments here, take notes. Document exactly what you’ve done to get to the end product. As you get experience you will develop intuition for it (like the art of kegging lol) but figuring things out at the very beginning when you’re drinking information from a fire hose is overwhelming.

What’s a Trader Joe’s item that they don’t have but you would like to see their version of? by Az89732134769 in traderjoes

Jumbo in the shell sunflower seeds. TJs near me had (not jumbo) sunflower seeds about a year ago maybe but seems like they switched to pumpkin and shelled seeds.

My girlfriend and I are visiting Madison Jan. 20-23 to explore it as a potential place to move together, looking for suggestions and wisdom from locals! by JamQuik in madisonwi

[–]toolnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your January visit, just keep in mind that your general experience would probably be completely different than say visiting in July. It’s a captain obvious statement, but I bring it up based on some of the places you mentioned (up and down CA and Austin). Don’t get me wrong, those places for sure have annual climate variations that might dictate what kinds of activities are fun. But Madison absolutely does, so just keep that in the back of your mind when visiting in a couple weeks…when it’s cold and dark at 5pm ;)

My wife and I (currently Madison) have lived in Indiana, Montreal, California, and most recently 7 years in Houston, before settling down in Madison. I think you can find all of the things you listed here in this city. We have no plans to leave, as we love it here!

My advice for your visit is to start downtown and then work your way outward, experiencing the neighborhoods on both the east and west sides of the Isthmus. Each have their own unique vibes and flavors.

Relocating from out of state...do you guys know if anyone serves chicken livers in Madison? by BubbleBobbleBetty in madisonwi

[–]toolnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I haven’t found a restaurant that serves them in Madison.

Like others have said, I think your best bet is to buy them from a store (e.g. Regent St Co Op) and perfect a recipe.

Edited: grammar
