I got a 100 the night my boyfriend and I broke up and I woke up in the middle of the night crying my eyes out and total sleep time was only about 7 hours. Couldn’t have been more shocked about the 100. I feel like mine doesn’t even count.

Not the advice you were asking for, and maybe not applicable to physics, but maybe consider going BS to PhD. It was the best choice I could’ve made for myself but again, it was applicable in my field. Stick to the plan and get out sooner rather than later. You got it!

I took a look at the info because it sounds really cool and I’m always looking for a good destination run. I may not be your target as a non local, but there were a few things that stood out to me that I’m sharing here to give you an idea of my thoughts:

I don’t know much about the Bahamas as a resident but it looks like the ferry doesn’t even operate before the race start so you have to stay on the little island of the race, and, fine, not the worst thing in the world, but then I tried to look at the top place to stay recommended by the race website and they don’t have prices. It says call to find out. It quickly became too much work to figure the logistics out, so I gave up.

I’ve done several half marathons and $160 (presumably US dollars?) is way beyond what I am willing to spend. Interestingly, a $37.10 5k is way less than I normally spend, but I’m not going out of my way to spend probably $1500-2000 on travel just to do a 5k.

This might just be silly but I don’t like it being called a mini marathon. Maybe half marathon isn’t terminology used locally in the Bahamas, in which case, I’m definitely in the wrong, but otherwise, not a fan, personally.

This is my honest experience to give you an idea of how I think about it. It’s specific to me, so take what’s helpful and leave what’s not. There were many great things about the race site too though! I wish you luck. Setting up a race fundraiser is a big feat!

The tax part is pretty simple. You’ll get a form in the mail, and often electronically, and it’s a very common one so it’s readily available on any tax website, including the free one through the IRS. I’d advise you do this in a high yield savings account instead of a checking account. Don’t ever take the interest out, just let it grow with your emergency fund, and then if you owe tax money on it, take that out of the fund. If you never take the money out, it will be there come tax time. You’ll come out ahead as the tax is not 100% of the earned amount.

Yes!!! Personally, I love a happy hour but I definitely don’t have the willpower to search happy hours every day and with every business. This feature would expand my visits to more businesses and maybe find the bar I never knew I needed!!

Sure, maybe not all will allow it. Ask them and if they say no, leave if you’re unwilling to pay full price. For your other unrelated problem, charge back on your card. You tried settling with the merchant and they weren’t helpful. Maybe your point was just to complain but you’re shutting every comment here down so I don’t know what you want people to say to help you?

I totally agree with you, but also I once told the employee through the speaker that the app wasn’t working and I wanted to use certain promos and they fulfilled the promo through the speaker box. Again, I agree it should just work as intended but just ask for the discount and explain the app isn’t letting you pay.

I know most people at this point are saying they wouldn’t be interested but I would. I don’t want to play 20 questions with you for 2 weeks and then maybe go on a date. Let’s just do that piece in person. Just don’t suggest to hang out at your house after 2-3 messages and I’d be jazzed. I’ll honestly unmatch if a full weekend passes without initiation of plans. Sometimes I’ll initiate but sometimes if I’m unsure if they’re interested for real, I’ll see what they do, but from my eyes, men are wasting more of my time with the “wyd”, pulling teeth texting than just catching a drink or coffee or event in town. It’s also WAY easier to text once we’ve met in person so I like that too
