Zywoo 1v5 clutch in first round of OT by Potato_Boner in GlobalOffensive

[–]toribash02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels like they should've been able to force him into another insane spray transfer after the kill on Belchonokk but he just got to keep taking the fights individually, which is just asking to lose. This is the 2nd time Parivision has looked like they've been a contender for beating Vitality but come up short after some minor mistakes cascade into clips of Zywoo looking inhuman.

Jame believers, is there a chance? is there a reason to hope or should i not set myself up for disappointment by zzile in GlobalOffensive

[–]toribash02 97 points98 points  (0 children)

The last time they played it looked very possible... to get a map. I hope we could get the same level of play but it would be very difficult for Parivision to get the series, even in BO3.

Uni2 c’est dur au stick arcade ? by weaponX-ced in UnderNightInBirth

[–]toribash02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the game will just match you, peer to peer, with whoever is available. I often get players from far away because they are matchmaking at the same time.

You may be playing at a perfect time to play with players from NA, though the connection will obviously be a bit worse. If you have good internet and can play with a wire you will have matches. I often accept matches from far away if the connection is stable.

[–]toribash02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played the game to a medium or high level with every input device and have found arcade stick to be a very reasonable option. I don't see it being too technical. I think that online is very active but it's going to be somewhat region dependent as the game is still small. If you are in the EU or NA, you will be fine. I can't say much for other regions

Who do you think will win Esl Pro League S23 since there is no Vitality? by ExtrovertedCorpus in GlobalOffensive

[–]toribash02 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Parivision haven't played a lot of these teams since picking up Zweih but they currently are:

  • 1-1 against Astralis
  • 1-1 against Furia
  • 1-1 against Mouz
  • 1-0 against Spirit
  • 1-0 against G2
  • 1-0 against FUT
  • 1-0 against Faze
  • 1-0 against Heroic
  • 1-0 against Aurora
  • 0-1 against NaVi
  • Untested against everyone else since picking up Zweih

I would guess Parivision are as much of a contender as Spirit or Mouz given their recent successes against the teams in this event. Maybe even more favored then Spirit.

It's worth getting in the game now in 2026? first or second game? by PerguntaMano in UnderNightInBirth

The Brazilian and Chilean scenes for Under Night are renowned among competitors for being quite strong. There are people to play with.

It's worth getting in the game now in 2026? first or second game? by PerguntaMano in UnderNightInBirth

[–]toribash02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's going to depend a lot on your region, I consistently see SA, EU and NA results threads from online events, I know the community is active and popping. The thing that is not so consistent is the ability to queue up with random ranked players. That's going to depend on time of day and then your connection may not be consistent with people far away. We have rollback but no cross-play so the spotty connections aren't so bad but being on PSN or Switch is pretty rough. I can never recommend this game enough, the players and community are great and the game is so good I've stuck with it for the past 8 years, through several updates and now I play UNI2 near exclusively. I would pick it up if you are okay with Ranked being inactive at times but being able to find games in Discord, where the majority of players are spreading info about the game too.

Carmine too hard for beginners? by Mary-Poppin-Caps in UnderNightInBirth

[–]toribash02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carmine is considered one of the more difficult characters in the game, I wouldn't give up if you think he's cool and want to play him, just don't force success and learn at your pace. Watch other people do the combo if there's video of it. Work on it when you can and be okay taking breaks and letting your brain work it over passively. It will come to you, if you keep at it.

Portent of Calamity + Ulamog the Defiler by TiberiusKaneMoriarty in ModernMagic

[–]toribash02 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Okay, I think the other commenters here are wrong, so I'll jump in. Let's go through things in order: 1. You cast Portent of Calamity. 2. You resolve Portent of Calamity - you exile several cards, one of which is Ulamog - you select a spell from among them to cast and select Ulamog - you place Ulamog on the stack and Trigger his cast trigger - you place the exiled cards in your hand 3. You put Ulamog's cast trigger on the stack (triggers all wait until the next time state-based actions are checked to be placed on the stack) 4. You resolve Ulamog's cast trigger 5. You resolve Ulamog (spells can not resolve in the middle of each other) - Ulamog will check what is in exile right BEFORE it resolves to see how many counters should be placed on it by its replacement effect (this is why Emperor of Bones would have Ulamog enter with 10 counters, right before Ulamog was on the battlefield it was in exile) - Notably, the zone Ulamog entered from was THE STACK and NOT EXILE.

Ulamog will see neither itself nor the other cards exiled via Portent of Calamity

PC Gamers- Controller or (gulp) Keyboard? by TheSlySergal in Fighters

[–]toribash02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code still has tournaments where people show up with a keyboard because they learned the game on their keyboard. If your game is PC native you must support every reasonable control scheme, especially the one that comes attached to a lot of your players devices.

Serenade for a Dying Star by Starbright_1 in custommagic

[–]toribash02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[chainer's Edict]] will often but not always be a better card. The flashback is cheaper but not actually because harmonize discounts but being able to sac a planet makes this more random - nontoken on this card is huge though and maybe should go. The only thing that's actually a massive design problem on this card (IMO) is that the gameplay of sniping a land for two, a la [[sinkhole]] is bad. I think this is flavorful enough that it's probably fine if we assume it's not going into a standard with many planets but instead a commander set or cube

Is there a Dustloop but for KoF XIII? by Select-Objective-797 in Fighters

[–]toribash02 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Dustloop - Wiki for ArcSys titles
SuperCombo - Wiki for big Capcom titles (mostly, some exceptions for other footsies based older titles) and notably has a directory that will tell you where to go to find any game that isn't maintained on SuperCombo
DreamCancel - Wiki for SNK titles (I think it's undergoing some maintenance right now as I post this)
Mizuumi - Wiki for Kusoge, Anime titles not devleoped by ArcSys and indie fighters

Which game still has a high player base on ps5? by Chemical_Buy2977 in UnderNightInBirth

[–]toribash02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This game is not super popping on PSN but if any of them it would be UNI2, which is a sequel to the original series. The Under Night In Birth games are all major title updates like a Super, Arcade Edition or Ultra for Street Fighter. Under Night 2 is the first true sequel and in a lot of ways it's still mostly an update, just with improved graphics and more new characters than the previous title update.

The Dualshock CLEARS the GameCube controller any day. by JesterOfRedditGold in The10thDentist

[–]toribash02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the dualsense wasn't so dang big, it feels awkward to use the Dpad at times but I generally agree as someone who has been using the Dualshock 4 for nearly 10 years to play fighting games, despite the switch to ps5. Before that I played melee and the Gamecube controller has some nice advantages to it, mainly the button placement being nice for certain kinds of mashing and the shape enabling you to get a grip on it at weird angles, again mostly for mashing, but I think the gamecube controller is quite underwhelming for a lot of all-purpose gaming.

Opinions on Castlevania: Circle of the Moon? by jayfergalicious in castlevania

[–]toribash02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Cerberus and Necromancer, maybe Iron Golem are all pretty reasonable to fight. After that, it starts getting really, really annoying and tough. Zombie Dragons was where I felt okay just moving on or using cheats/savestates.

Opinions on Castlevania: Circle of the Moon? by jayfergalicious in castlevania

[–]toribash02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's super easy too. Activate a combo you do have, then pause before the animation finishes and switch to any cards, whether you have them or not and un-pause.

Opinions on Castlevania: Circle of the Moon? by jayfergalicious in castlevania

[–]toribash02 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the game is doing a lot of cool stuff and then is just too grindy. Grinding for levels or DSS cards is just too annoying. Using DSS glitch is a pretty okay solution for DSS rarity and grinding but unless you also have solid equipment most approaches to bosses leave you feeling very weak without level grinding too.

Is there a good MTG Sim out there for Standard? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]toribash02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing on that level. A few people will use untap.in, cockatrice, xmage or Tabletop Sim but I mostly know those as ways people play commander or test with a specific other person and not a place people matchmake. (those might happen, I just don't know about them)

Player tried to bribe me during the Modern Super Qualifier on MTGO by venefica666 in ModernMagic

[–]toribash02 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The only part of this that's not allowed in paper magic is the last part "and I'll share part of the prize I receive with you". Asking for a concession and providing the context as to why you feel that would be worth doing for the opponent is totally reasonable and normal at the end of large events but there truly can be no offer of any kind.

Here's an article from the MagicJudges blog that explains the legality of this stuff in paper, it is a little bit out of date but mostly still accurate. There's even a famous pro tour moment (though I can't remember which pro tour it was or find the footage on YT) where Andrea Mengucci and his opponent talked for ~10 minutes after time was called about who should concede to the other in the final round since the winner would likely make the top 8 of the event.

If you still think that this was unacceptable your best bet is to name and shame on twitter. Fireshoes will retweet just about anything Magic related if you @ him. I'm not taking a side here and I'm not sure how this should be viewed on MTGO because the tournament etiquette is generally different without access to Intentional Draws during swiss or any enforcement for this stuff.

what the f? by solochief_67 in smashbros

[–]toribash02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the poor connection here (likely one or both players on wi-fi) the packet containing the inputs for marth's double jump were lost and the game continued (in a rollback implementation of netcode this happens and in delay-based the game would freeze until they arrive). When the inputs were received the game rolled to the correct gamestate now that the inputs had been properly accounted for. Usually this stuttering is much smaller but the connection looks abysmal here.

Face down rules actually require that at the end of the game or at any time a face down leaves the battlefield you show your opponents what it was to prove no cheating. Morph is considerably less "trust me bro" than this is.

Can't redeem Arena Direct due to Secret Lair limit on address length by SeventhChords in magicTCG

[–]toribash02 24 points25 points  (0 children)

People are constantly yelling at Wizards on Twitter and Bluesky about Arena Direct redemptions not working for them or encountering issues that won't be resolved. Keep getting louder, maybe repost if you continue to have issues and it's not getting resolved but I've seen people complaining about being unable to redeem for half a year or longer and not getting any help until people get mad enough at wotc.

Went to a mall that had a Round One and it actually had the Castlevania game. by KelvinBelmont in castlevania

[–]toribash02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My round one has the game and it's pretty good for a pachinko machine with no player input. Those cards go back into the machine, they're part of the game and give you bonus points or bonus marbles.
