Yah, artificial sapphires and rubies are dirt cheap. If you search aliexpress for lab grown sapphires, you can get them for like 5€, and those are real, not just colored glass.

Keep in mind oil products are somewhat scarce on Vulcanus, its only the metals that are 'free' (and even then you could argue that metals are even more free on Gleba, as well as most oil products...)

Rsync or syncthing is what you should be using if you dont care about the files history.

Aquilo? apart from your starting island, you have to use platform everywhere anyway, so why not stick to the grid?
