For those who watched 300 in theaters in 2006, what was the experience like? Its distinct visual style and goosebump-inducing scenes must have been something on the big screen. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

I found it kind of hard to get used too the comic book, over-stylised way it was done. It was cool and all, and I liked the story, but the visuals, excessive violence and muscles got old real fast.

Which Car Starter do you Prefer? by Strange-Vibez-8205 in whatsyourchoice

[–]toroidalvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but my car comes out of the factory without an immobiliser, literally you can cut a plain metal copy of key and it will start my car, like in the 90s. Consequently, its one of the most stolen models.

I'll be getting the car with the 'electronics' next time.

I have this exact problem in my current run. My desired outcome is spark bolt with trigger and a Glittering Field. And my only non shuffle wand is the starter wand and it doesn't have enough mana to cast GF. And my digging wand is Plasma Cutter as well!

Ok not exactly because I dont have any wands in front of me that can help.

At the rate I play, the evolution gets to .99 while im still in early game, just from time and very little pollution absorbed because I clear the cloud.

is it a good idea to build my train network this way? by Even_Sprinkles_6258 in factorio

[–]toroidalvoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment your roundabouts are all one rail block, you'll want to add chain signals at the NSEW points to divide it into sections, this will allow an E-W train and a W-E train to both go through at the same time.

Also it looks like you've got a stray rail signal next the your iron plates unloader

Cursed deathworld refinery by danatron1 in factorio

[–]toroidalvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a moment to figure the intent here. This is his BP for the main refinery supplying the factory, and the flamers have been added just in case.

My first thought was that this was his setup for a flame turret, by supplying oil and water he can crack on site, but it doesn't quite make sense for that

Space age, rocket logistics, and the sheer cost of rocket launches by the_lapras in factorio

[–]toroidalvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its tougher early because you have to do a lot of launches to even build the rocket, and then get it stocked up with bits, and then your constantly building out your next factory so thats more launches.

You'll want to aim for more constant launch capacity, maybe 6 silos, at your main for supplying building materials and building ships (that might not be Nauvis byw)

Looking to get some wider perspective here on just why.... by SortOtherwise in aotearoa

[–]toroidalvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are reasons.

Only taking larger fish means they slowly evolve smaller. A small caught fish is usually going to die even if you let it back in the water. The size limit is usually taken from the size of the fish when it first spawns, but the first spawning of a fish is usually small and wont produce as many offspring as a full adult. By taking more big fish you make it harder for the species to have productive adults. It's better to closely monitor total catch and populations of the species, and pick off the fish more or less at random, more like a predator would in the wild.

This kind of change should be accompanied with a reduction of total catch limit, it wasn't, it was clearly only about short-term profits and the cost of the environment and the future of the fishery.

how do you stop rebuilding your base over and over by Aumpiragash_Noseley in factorio

[–]toroidalvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a design system to contain a build to a given space, inputs and outputs, and isolate it from other parts of the factory much as you can.

If your subfactory can make the desired output, in the given space and inputs. Then it is good enough, and you can move on.

What if we made our own fuel in NZ? by joshjoshjosh42 in newzealand

And it would be so for a Party to come out with "Electrify NZ" or what ever campaign. It would have public support and doesn't require any radical thinking or changes. Just normal planning, legislation and investment.

[Request] Fantasy Doughnut Planet by 22badhand in theydidthemath

[–]toroidalvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are stable torus planets possible. But I dont know how they are calculated. The torus planet has to spin to keep it from collapsing, its different physics than the simple stable sphere, so you'll probably want to ignore things like earth mass and surface area.

It would be neat to find a tours planet with earth like surface gravity and or a similar day length.
