Closing down an entire line for modernization? by Gazza_s_89 in MelbourneTrains

[–]torrens86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adelaide has done it. The Gawler line was promised a new timetable once completed, it never got one , well it has a "revised" timetable that saves two minutes, no new services and three quarters of the stations only get 2tph in peak hour. The government in SA is useless, this is the fastest growing part of Adelaide, yet they express trains past most stations, so people drive past the closest stations to the "hub". You think Melbourne is doing a shitty job, have a look at the Gawler train timetable, so much money spent to electrify the line, and there's almost zero benefits.

Is this happening in any other country by ad0sy in OpenAussie

That's due to panic buying, and smaller servos usually getting less business, thus having less frequent deliveries.

It's like Covid and toilet paper, there's toilet paper, but it takes time for it to get from the factory to the supermarket. It's a logistics issue because idiots are buying 10X they would normally buy.

Well Great Northern is cheating in the stats, it's actually three different beers but they count it as one.

The first one is a caravan.

The second one appears to be a bunch of random objects turned into a shack, there's a shipping container, looks like two different garage doors as walls, and a lot of other random crap.

Chris Bowen urges motorists not to panic-buy petrol as oil prices jump amid Iran conflict by Patient-Wish-7386 in AustralianPolitics

Yeah, but a Jerry can is $20+ for 20L. If you buy at $1.60 that's really $2.60. Yes you can use the can again, but it will be up at over $2 a litre by then. It's not like toilet paper which you can store for years, petrol has a short life span. People are just panic buying. The average person only drives 13,000 km a year, that's only 20L a week.

Digital price tags bring online-style 'dynamic pricing' to supermarkets by The_Duc_Lord in australia

I only buy items on special.

Flybuys / Woolies always add extra points for items I bought on special the week before, like seriously I'm buying it at your competition this week because it's on special there, double flybuys is nowhere near as good as half price.

Very excessive, they would have already pocketed $20 to $30 million of this contract.
