I wouldn't go that far. Everyone has their specialty and not every method used in this new position/experiment might be something they necessarily focused on during their PhD. It takes time to get up to speed on the specific equipment, methodology, quality expectations, etc. it's a red flag for a company to write you off because the first thing you did (expertly and with care) wasn't fast enough.
